Yes of course he has his shortcomings. Now name a QPR player who dosen't ??? The great thing about Jamie Mackie is that he will get better and better. I think he will be the next Simon Barker for us. Mackie is one player who dosen't take being a premiership footballer for granted, and is fast becoming my player of the year.
Mackie's problem is the same as all of our players except Faurlin ( and perhaps HH) - inconsistency. I don't think anyone has put in a majority of their time on pitch anywhere near their potential. If 80% of them were at 90% of their potential (even if that potential is not world class) all the time we would be a mighty team. I think Sparky has the nous to get them there.
It's all got to come together at some point SB, i'm sure that when it does someones going to get one hell of a beating. Let's hope it's in our next game. We do seem to be creating more chances under Sparky than we did with Sir Neil.
Don't understand " when Cisse returns i think we'll struggle to fit him in". We need at least four (if not more!) strikers fit and competing for places in the team - for me thats Helgusson, Cisse, Zamora and Jamie. Nothing wrong with being a squad player especially with our current disciplinary record!
Where will he play..He aint a winger so.. Not putting him down at all, just saying that if we play with 2 up front, Cisse and zamo would be 1st choice (IMO) Tarbs would also be on the bench, so if we needed to create of change the game, he would be 1 st sub... HH offers great aerial pressence and will be battling for position with Mackie... I Dont think JM could add anything to Zam & Cisse up front and just do see what game out of our last 13 he would make the starting 11...? IMHO I totally agree that he is the one player that takes playing in the premiership as an honour, and ALWAYS gives his all...
Take your point QL. I would agree that Cisse and Zamora, once available should be the first choice, and I agree that if Tarbs was on the bench more often then not he would be 1st on (though for me he would already be on!). Just a bit worried you didn't see JM in the 25. As you say right now we need his fight, passion and never say die attitude. I don't know if I'm just another deluded R's fan but I can see Mackie scoring a goals against Fulham and Everton and giving Mark some selection headaches!!
Neil to his everlasting credit saw a lot - Adel, HH, Derry, Hill, Kenny, Mackie and probably more than anyone else Ale, who I don't think he ever left out when he was fit. Sh*t, wish he still was! I reckon Mackie will get playing time even with Cisse back, coming off the bench for tiring or non-firing (hopefully not!) strikers or at RM.
Absolute machine. Never say die. Remember Derby away last year?! True success story. Especially after busting his leg. Also, bet he is a model pro. Hard worker, never bitches, team player. Love it. Walking in a Mackie wonderland!!!
