His enthusiasm for the game makes me smile,it's like watching a kids game over the park.To come back from such an horrendous injury is testament to his will to succeed, and he has improved as a player again this season. He represents everthing that is good about football,no flashiness and where he might not be the most naturally gifted of players,i can't think of many who work as hard as him to get the most out of the ability he does possess.I think that just by his manner of play he has caused some of our so-called bigger players to up their own performances and hence our results have improved.I look forward to seeing Jamie improve even more over the next few seasons and becoming one of the clubs most enduring legends.Top post Roller.
I have to say that there were bucket loads of hoops fans that were criticising Jamie this season. I am glad to say that I have advocated he will do us proud - and I am glad to be proven right. Coming back from a broken leg and proving to all that he is an old fashioned gutsy footballer, who is prepared to give his all and use the best he has in his locker is a credit to the lad. He has shown total dedication and professionalism in his preparation and desire to make it at the top, despite the set-backs he has had to face. He has shown the way to other so-called "top players", by getting on the pitch and putting in a 100% shift every time. At times he has picked up the game by the scruff of the neck and delivered passion and desire to pull out a comeback or result. Two defining matches of our last two seasons have been as a result of Jamie Mackie goals (Derby last season and Liverpool this season). And the total intensity of his celebrations shows what it means to him for the team to do well. Well done Jamie for another good season for you.. you deserved the plaudits. Long may your improvement continue.
Great thread topic Roller. Extremely well written and accurately summarised. Nothing to add other than to ask, 'what price Jamie Mackie these days?'. Gotta be £10m hasn't it?!!
To come back from that injury and play as well as he has done deserves credit on its own. He has excelled himself this season, long may it continue.
