IMHO the days of contacts beyond the old boys net work finished when Lennie Lawrence was kicked out. He had the knowledge and the contacts network. Since then Jack Sh&t. Oh funny that's when the rot really began to kick in. Coincidence, draw your own conclusions.
Have to agree with you their other then Smith, Mildenhall and maybe Brown can't think of anyone else who's set the world on fire with us
Back to the OP. Just read in the express and echo that Torquay United are going head to head with Rovers for Cureton. Though Cureton states there has yet to be any contact. Now is it me or did we have all this when he left Exeter and went to Cheltenham? Seems his agent is using his links to us to continually get Jamie a club and probably on inflated wages. You can just hear it know; Agent; Well Mr (Torquay) chairman we have had a few clubs interested in Jamie's service dare I say including the club that did more for him than anyone else has Bristol Rovers....and they are prepared to offer a good weekly wage above and beyond most L2 clubs. Torquay Chairman; Well we need to act fast to steel a march on our competition and if Rovers are offering big then we will offer more. Cards on the table Agent; Ok Mr Chairman that seems acceptable ...sign here. Agent and Cureton leaving Plainmoor high fiving. Agent says well done Jamie we did it again how many more gullible suckers are going to get roped in by that spiel?
They can have him as far as I'm concerned. I would be amazed if Cureton ever came back to us anyway - he certainly left under a cloud....
