I remember his first goal for Rovers when he hit a great shot from out on the right. Apparently Ollie was shouting "don't shoot, don't shoot!" but even at that age he had great instincts, and we haven't really seen better finishing over the years. Great achievement. I didn't realise he was still playing. There's obviously more left in the tank.
I would have him back in a shot! You don't need pace and fitness to know how to be in the right place at the right time. I know it wont happen but if he was brought back on a game by game basis, I wouldn't object. His ability to read the game and his ability to try something different always impressed me. Anyone that knows where the goal is, would be a welcome addition to the squad, he wouldn't have to score many to be our top goalscorer this season! Mind you, I must admit to not realising he is now 43! How time flies. (There must be another Jamie Cureton lurking about in non-league somewhere, why can't we unearth him?).
I wonder what Bishop Stortford would want for him,..... a couple of hundred quid and a new tea urn maybe !
And he would be desperate to play for our fans again. Offer him a coach role I say when he has finally hung up his boots. Nichols has a lot to learn from him.
