JWP, He will never make it, at least that's what I have read on December posts.

Not creative enough, doesn't score enough goals, 3 managers can't be wrong for not regularly playing him, no team will pay more than 15m for him, been around for years and had plenty of chances, career stalled etc etc etc

To be fair many stuck up for him

JWP - 2nd top scorer and England international. Well done son.
Excellent news and a breath of fresh air to this week’s news.

I would be interested to hear JWP's rationale.

Despite the fact that I am a totally committed European (having converted from "over my dead body" opponent in the 1970's) I have respect for some views on Leave. Some, not most, and if it's based on Little Englander xenophobia then none. Difficult to imagine a young man of such obvious intellect holding this view.

Becks was more of a right sided specialist, I see JWP as a box to box centre mid although he can play anywhere in midfield (except the left)

I wasn't commenting on their position. JWP cites Beckham as an influence. I admired Beckham greatly for his work rate and dedication to self-improvement, as I do JWP. Obviously I hope our boy avoids a scary wife and bling lifestyle!

That's nice...every time they talk about Spurs' chances, Sky show JWP's free kick. Not quite up there in my brain with Long's goal against Liverpool in the cup or Gabbi's goal against Swansea...but a real pleasure to watch again and again.

Yes, I know it's of more importance than Long's goal....but doesn't quite have the magical beauty of that goal.

Hate to point it out, but...there's a really stark racial/cultural divide there. Walker's the only non-white/mixed race player on the leave side, and the majority of white players on the remain side have ties outside the country; Keane's parents are Irish, Tarkowski's still close to some of his extended family in Poland (and was unsuccessfully recruited to play for their national side), and Dier lived in Portugal for years.

Yeah I noticed that as soon as I saw it.

I really doubt the populous of voters truly understood what they were being asked to vote for.

I also really doubt it it fundamental racism and think that is an easy tag to apply, when such s broad subject is do multi faceted.

Instead of looking to blame the people, perhaps we could consider the way the people are educated.

Because it demonstrative of unconscious racism. And this type of racism can, for example, make it harder for minorities to find a job and other such things that can have a real affect on people's lives.

That's why people are discussing England players voting?

I just don't get why get people care so much which England player voted what, can people honestly not seperate the two?

It's laughable.

I looked at the Independent pod cast page by Jonathan Liew. These aren't the player's views on brexit, this is cut and pasted from the Indy - "And finally, the biggest topic of the week: which England players are Leave or Remain, in the eyes of Jonathan Liew."

Good example of the need to check and verify sources. By the way James Ward Prowes is a stayer!

As per Jabo above me. i had thought it obvious so i didn't point it out. but this was one man stereotyping and, i think unconsciously, creating a racial divide. the real players didn't vote the same way.

I'm not going to carry on an argument in this thread just point out its a very real problem that affects peoples lives since you asked why it was an issue.
