How good is this guy going to be? Saw him play at Palace in the Carling Cup and he didn't look out of place. Who would you guys say is the most exciting of the 3. JWP, Shaw or Chambers. I would like to add my opinion of JWP dropped drastically when he clogged up my facebook updates page with pictures of him kissing his girlfriend. :emoticon-0119-puke:

I've been hearing of Ward-Prowse, Turnbull & Sinclair since aged 14 when they trained with the 1st teamers

Ward-Prowse, Shaw, Chambers, Sinclair, Turbull & Stephens will be the core of our side one day

Same, apart from Turnbull?. Isn't that Mugabe meant to be pretty decent too?

A very dominating CB pairing by sounds of it - Turnbull was given a pro deal same time as WP/Chambers/Shaw back in 2010 so highly rated from what I hear

Corby Moore is meant to be a solid player too.

Ward-Prowse is definitely one of our brightest prospects though!

Mugabi has twice been on stand-by for England u17s, so he must be fancied.

Better than Brett Ormerod, not quite as good as Messi. About that good. That's about a Michael Carrick in imperial, or a Joe Cole in the metric system. Or if you prefer your measurement in Kelvin, he's currently about a Kelvin Etuhu, with potential to be over the high end of the Kelvin scale.

Calum Chambers is terrific. He'll be the main one coming through, along with Ward-Prowse and Shaw. Expect a £20m combined offer from Arsenal on Cortese's desk tomorrow morning.

The important thing is to allow these kids an opportunity to get into the 1st team. To have a successful team of over half academy players will take at least 10 or more years to achieve

Not necessarily, these guys are 16/17 now and on the fringes of the first team, in 5 years they'll be established and there will be more 16/17 year olds on the fringes of the first team.

I agree that half would take a bit longer to achieve, if it's a realistic prospect at all, but it's quite likely that 3/4 of the first team in a few years could be home-grown, and that's enough to be considered a 'core' of a team.

Cortese's rubbish bin is going to be full of screwed up faxes again :) Either that or we will have sold all 3 and have enough to buy Messi. He can be joint top earner with Lambert on £25k :)

My nephew is at Saints' academy so my brother in law usually watches a lot of the Under 21's games whilst my nephew trains. He says Corby Moore is a very tidy player. Seem to remember him likening him to Paul Scholes, both by how he looks and plays!

Apparently Shaw is the one they all have huge hopes for. Wanted by more or less every major club in the land and some abroad.

ManU brought through a group of young players all at the same time...imagine some of our best youngsters coming into the first team after playing together for years at the different age groups. I'm sure this is the plan and will happen.

That is Cortese's vision. Since he came in, he wanted us to become a Barcelona-esque team. So far so good. <ok>

Not just the one generation either. Imagine a squad constantly being refreshed by new youth players coming through!

I think Bilbao would be a good model but without the stringent birthplace restraints.
The trick for this to work of course is being able to keep the very good ones. As we found with Chamberlain even with the best will in the world you can't hold players who have had there heads turned

Another reason why bringing a group through is a good idea...increases the ties that bind.
