    The thing is the poppy stands for something completely different over here compared to England. A large section of the community in Ireland will not wear the poppy, (even though many thousands of Irish men/women died in the wars) because they feel (rightly or wrongly?) that it has been high jacked by a section of the community. However it is his right to refuse I think he has been badly advised.

    Some would, some wouldn't. It would depend how myself and my family felt about the thing I'm being asked to pay respect to. Bit of a non issue for me and barely worthy of mention.

    Don't agree with him not wearing it, though for people to say the club should get shot is a bit naive, no club is going to get rid of an asset for nothing.
