I know he's not the best in the world as a footballer, but he's doing his job and the teams doing OK, if were getting tanked every game I could see the point of some of the comments. For me Koren deserves more criticism than Harper as he seems to go missing and can't tackle, at least Harper was in a position to score today even though he hashed it up, unlike Koren, and Evans is a young kid and will learn more from Harpers attitude than Korens, that's for sure. Will have to google Oxford Bag now:emoticon-0112-wonde

I have to agree that he appears to do nothing, i do not necessarily rate him and i wish we had one more loan spot to fit in the new loan lad or even get a winger on there somewhere. However he made two great runs today, one into the box where Koren instead of putting a simple ball through went wide, and a second in the second half when Rosenior came inside and he made a similar run.

I am not saying he is a class player but if you watch some of the runs he makes he does make some good one's, i however emphasise the SOME! Does that mean he does enough to stay in the team? I have no idea, thats up to NP to decide.

I am comparing their styles. Makelele, for the team he was playing with was **** on the ball. Just like Harper. But they aren't in there to spray 50 yard passes out to the winger.

dont usually have a pop at one of our players...but having kept my eye on harper a couple of games i think he is a waste of space.....seems to just walk about waving his arms about most of the time...does not get involved enough....i would drop him from the team...

BUT Nigel Pearson knows more about picking a team then i do and picks harper week in week out for some reason...

i just dont think he is very good...

how he missed that sitter i just dont know im sure i would have scored that one and im crap at footy...

Harper or the miss? Or, as I believe to be the case, both?

A lot of unfair criticism on here of Harper. He is a vital cog in the machine and team that we allegedly support. With regards the miss, **** happens, at least he was in the box, on the end of the cross trying to score. It was a bad miss but hardly intentional.

As we are in the Championship, midfielders that can score 20 goals a season, have a 100% pass success rate and be able to tackle anything that moves is a rarity, but it seems judging by comments about Harper, that this is what we should expect of a midfielder?

Hull City fans are never happy unless they're complaining about something or someone. Put your efforts into supporting the team, that has miraculously got us a chance of getting in the play offs, and yes, that team includes James Harper.

HOPEfully Akpan has been brought in to replace Harper. I agree with the above, a total waste of a shirt. If he gets picked over the 'flare players' because he's the tackler in midfield, it'd be nice to see him fulfill his role!!

He's a complete waste of space. I'm a fan of players like Makelele or, closer to home Ashbee, but the problem is that Harper's rubbish at playing this role, or whatever role he's been given. Can't pass, can't tackle, can't head, can't finish. He's really good at pointing though.

Although I find him useless I was quite embarrassed by the reception the crowd gave him when he came off yesterday.

I know people will say, "I pay my money I can do what I want", which is fair enough but that reception will not only effect the already abysmal Harper but it will have a negative effect on the team as well.

Dont get me wrong against the lesser teams Harper can be very useful when he wants to be. It is just that he doesnt seem to offer anything against the better teams who play the ball in to feet in midfield.

I am sure he gives 100% but of what i am not sure, i'm sure my observations cant be that far out when the East stand cheers when he goes off. They must be seeing the same as me i suppose.

We need a Danny Murphy, Michael Carrick type of player in there, someone who can tackle & will look up to try & pick a pass when he has the ball, not play a one two with his defenders in in his own half which gets you nowhere !!

Im dam sure Nigel Pearson sees something we dont & he picks the team, so we will have to be patient. Although i think if we keep improving the squad, Harper will just become a squad player & not a automatic first choice which he seems to be at the moment.

Harper was brought in as a free when the club was all but broke. He has done his job even if hes not been briliant. Theres no doubt he needs to be replaced though and really the whold of midfield needs to be looked at. Thats our weakness at the moment.

Well said that man. What a ****ing out and out disgrace that was.

People can say what they want but to do that to one of your own players is down right embarrassing.

I know Harper gets a slagging an he isn't to everyones taste but that was well out of order.

fully agree..thats what i just dont get, the people who rate him..say he might not spray passes etc..but he does his job..id like to know what his job is, because i watch him closely too,...and he loses a hell of a lot more tackles then he wins when im watching., so he isnt a tackler, he isnt a passer, he isnt a goalscorer, im struggling to see what his job is.....and yes yo do need someone in there pointing and shouting, but while at the same time leading by example...if all they are doing is pointing and shouting, and not much else and i was along side him in midfield, i would think who the f**k are you to be givng me orders when doing naff all yourself..
