Cant say im overly excited by this to be honest, he seems a bit old for £20 million! Sure he is consistent enough but quite short though. I think we could find a better deal than this.
Arsene's buying English for the sake of buying English. He's got a foreign sounding name so he'll do.
Not worth £20m at all. £10m is a bit low, but I reckon £13 is probably more realistic. He would be a good signing in my opinion, i think he and TV would form an awesome partnership.
I'd say 15m should be the top cash offer but funnily enough I was just chatting about a 5-7m bid plus Bendtner this morning. I thin kthat'd work out well all round. I don't think he's world class but he's uber reliable and very physical and I believe would do a very good job for us. Any more than that though and I'd wonder why we're not looking at the younger, also good/solid/reliable Cahill for 17m...
With the prices English players have been going for I dont think Everton would accept less than £16- 17 million. At 28 years old that's alot. Moyes is very frugile in the transfer market and wont let his best players go for cheap. Cahill for £16-17 sounds more reasonable seeing as he's 24. (and possibly more the 'kind' of defender we need - some height/power in the team would be nice) Still though for that money we could probably prize away Hummels or Subotic from Dortmund.
I'm not sure Cahill is worth £17m to be honest. I'm with bear on this one, if we're looking to spend nearer £20m for a CB then I think we should be going for Subotic or Hummels
PISKIE is about right - £13m would be fair. If push comes to shove we could add a loan of a young striker (not Bendtner)? I'd rather Cahill for lets say £!5/16m- younger and cheaper.
Oh I agree. Was just looking at it through the "if we were to sign a 'proven' English player" route. Which, to be honest, is a mugs game. For the 15-20m mark you'd expectto get a quality centreback assuming you buy outside of the EPL. If Wenger's heart is set on him though (and I don't think it'd be a bad move) then shipping B52 the other way would be good business.
B52 is worth at least £10M and anyone getting him for that is getting a good deal in the current marekt prices. People saying any more than about £4M + Bendtner are mad. As stated above, anything around the £15M level and above for a 28 Year old Jags would be silly. Go and buy a world class younger bigger defender.
Yeah, I'd go with that. I think the £12m quotes for Bendtner are a bit optimistic. I still think he's a good player, but £8m / £9m is more realistic. If we're going to spend nearly £20m cash on a CB then we can get more for our money outside of the UK
Jagielka is quality, the kind of quality we need...incrediblt consistant and maybe not the best option in the air but there isn't a better 'all round' option. We have to remember our options here... *I think we need someone with Premier League experience, we can't gamble on somone adpating again *We need someone who has experience all round...28 is when you should be in your prime *We need someone with decent pace due to the high line we play *Strength is key due to the amount of times we get bullied in games *Dominance aerially I think Jageilka ticks most of these so right now is the best option and 15m would be a fair price. Also, I don't think he's that injury prone? Check his stats
