I think he's just not liked City every since he accused us of injuring Ayala, (comments which I believe Liverpool apologised for after they sacked him).
I really cant stand him ever since that episode and the Euros when a better manager could have got us past Italy. How the **** does Cleverley get picked for England, I think he could be a player one day maybe given a bit of coaching but he is lucky to get in the Man U team let alone anywhere near England
Hodgson is a dinosaur and the modern game is by-passing him. He's too negative as well. I'll still support England, whoever is the manager, but another alarming point is who takes over when Roy steps down ?
It's not the worst England squad I've ever seen, but demonstrates Hodgson's apparent fear of selecting players outside the top half of the table (keepers and Caulker excepted). Bizarre that he only selected 3 CBs, as someone has already said. And no Curtis or Thudd is chuffing ridiculous, of course. I'm equally perplexed as to why Woy isn't taking the opportunity to try out new players - we all know what Milner, Cleverley, Henderson, Carrick, Welbeck, Defoe, and Smalling can and cannot do. Aside from wanting to see the Hull City lads, was also hoping he'd give a run out to Joel Ward (one of the statistically best fullbacks in the country this season), Ravel Morrison (a twat but with potential for genius) and Saido Berahino (prolific at U-21). This is the first of four or five friendlies before the World Cup, why not start with a bigger pool than 30 players and whittle it down. I sometimes think Hodgson's prerogative is to continually pick players who are not ready yet so that when we inevitably get knocked out he can claim its all about building for the future. But that needs balancing with the needs of today - which is why he should be opting for Hudd and Curtis who are in their prime and in form.
You know what I hope now? I hope we win the FA Cup, and Davies has the greatest defensive performance in the history of the game, just to ****ing spite Roy. Oh, and I hope Adam Johnson scores a hat trick on Sunday as well now.
Would love Hodgson to turn up at a game at the KC and for us to let him know in no uncertain manner what we think of him. As said previously what an incentive for Hudd and Curtis to prove a point and make their exclusions seem ridiculous. The other negative point in this situation could be why would any English player with potential want to join us knowing he's likely to be overlooked, whilst being at a team with a higher profile regardless of whether playing regularly or not he may see his England prospects being enhanced.
The equally clueless English FA who also way overpaid for the new Wembley. God help us in Brazil. Anyone would be an improvement. I would even take Phil Brown. At least it would be funny for a while.
