We created 2 chances both were because of his pass and then he scored the free kick, he also defended well.. He gave the ball away badly once, but he had actually won the ball in the 1st place. I've been saying he should be on the right for a while... Nobody else is any good there.. Fraser almiron Joelinton are all useless there. I think he'd do even better right side in a 2 behind Wilson.
Thought he was good yesterday, playing out of position he put in a decent shift, got made to look like a winger playing wing back a few times but worked hard made some good tackles, put in probably the best cross of the game for us and good freekick made even better by having done his research on it prior to taking it. 6/6.5 is harsh, was out best player by far - 6.75!
Watched the game last night. There were no really standout players but he had a good solid game. The speed with which both teams moved the ball forward was awful. I dont know why we never seem to have an outlet for a short forward pass from the back. I know a lot of you hate Shelvey but I understand why Bruce picks him. Without him we dont seem capable of building a move. Bruce seems to have given up on Sean Longstaff but I dont know who else we have who can actually pass the ball forward in midfield.
He was one of the best of a bad bunch. I'd say Almiron was our best performer to be honest but mostly for his work up and down the line rather than his end product. He put in a proper shift which sometimes goes un-noticed. Murphy definitely has a role to play for us this season though if this is what he can do, he's not a great player but he's good enough for us as back-up to the likes of Max, Miggy, etc. Fraser looked well off the pace in comparison.
We were lucky that Wolves were kinda ****e, nowhere near the standard they've been in the last few years, a half decent team would have mangled us. Murphy is looking a lot better than he's previously been, ain't a world beater yet, but great vision on the goal to see the chance. Wilson and ASM off the boil, and Frazer and Hendrick dire, so no one else could provide anything. Defense was decent but needed to be cos we had naff all up front.
I think its incredibly harsh to call him **** the other night. He had plenty of issues (kicked it aimlessly upfield on several occasions - cheap possession etc). His crossing was same as always, you might get one or two decent passes/crosses in ten. Top and bottom is he scored a goal which got us a point, and created another chance for Wilson. He did ok for me overall. He was ok defensively too given it wouldn't be natural to him. He's ****. If you have eyes that work, you know he's not PL level. He's not a natural footballer at all, and there is no way he should be gracing our PL squad. However he is and while we are stuck with him, have a shortage of options, I think we have to try to use him to fill gaps. It isn't the frog faced ****ers fault he's not very good. He has a good attitude and seems a likeable lad. He just happens to not be very good at football is all. To suggest 'class' was involved is incredibly misguided though
Yeah, but if De Bruyne had hit that exact same pass and free kick it would be described as class. OK so it was only 2 moments, but just because it was Murphy doing them doesn't mean they weren't class.
The free kick was just rank bad keeping. Patricio is top class but that was Sunday League. He took advantage well, but lets call it out for what it was. You set a wall up like that, you want shot with ****. Pass for the Wilson chance was a good pass. I agree it would be called class if from De Bruyne, but that is just the modern way of over egging every pudding. I think De Bruyne is class, but people are spunking over every mortal thing these guys do. It was a good pass and the lad had a decent game. Not sure how he gets called ****, that was his best game by a country mile!
I think it's pretty impossible not to notice Almiron's work rate if he's on the pitch. He's all over the place. Issue is that at the end of the day he is supposed to be one of our attacking options and he's always back somewhere in his own half making a tackle. I think he's a sure fire starter but needs coaching so he is a bit more clever about how he does his work and gives us more going forward
