As he was born in Belgium and has spent 90% of his life living in Belgium, I think it would be quite acceptable for him to play for Belgium and he might just win something.
Agree with OLM. I feel like it's totally acceptable to play for the country you are born in and spent most of your life (like Podolski, Klose and so on).
Speaking of which, I think we need to sign a Belgian, all the top teams seem to have one now, so i hate for us to miss out.
What about Owen Hargreaves ? how old was he when he moved to England ? im guessing it was when he moved to Man Utd
He's slightly different, his Dad is English, his mother is Welsh, one of his brothers was born in Wales, one born in England and he was born shortly after they arrived in Canada. He was only born outside the UK due to his Dad's work commitments and though he qualified for England, Germany and Wales, he only ever wanted to play for England. There's lots of examples like that, I think you have to make exemptions for people who consider themselves English, but their parents happened to be working abroad when they were born. The same is true of Bradley Wiggins, Bo Myhill and several others.
Januzaj wants to play for Kosovo apparently, but they're not currently a FIFA recognised team or summet. If they get membership/ recognised he'd play for them.
**** this, why don't they register a "rest of the world" team where all the one-wonder-kid nations can get together & win it for nowhere..??
This is what separates us from **** nations like France and Germany. We might not win anything but we do at least have an English team. The hype over Januzaj might wear off soon anyway. Remember Macheda? Even if he was English he hasn't proven much yet though his recent performances have been excellent.
Something to do with his folks having to flee from their and it being drummed into him that they are, and he is, Kosovan.
No he is right France and Germany have long had players play for them who weren't born there, Ozil is a prime example. Pretty sure Klose and Podolski weren't born in Germany either.
Klose is an ethnic German. Born in Poland. Lived in Germany since he was 8. Podolski, ethnic German born in Poland, lived in Germany since he was 2. Ozil born in Germany to Turkish parents, as is Khedira. See what i mean
Ozil was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Klose was born in Poland, but moved to Germany when he was eight. Podolski was born in Poland, but moved to Germany when he was two.
