Just on the subject of ball playing CB's, Gerrard was really liked during his stay but he was worse at passing than any defender I've seen in the last four seasons. Hobbs is young, strong, fit and will improve. I also agree that this wasn't a one off hes had other quality games. UTT
Wow, you have changed your tune on Hobbs since yesterdays game mate. Hope I see enough to impress me the way he has you. The thing with Gerrard was that he had an aerial presence and notched a couple of goals too and far more aggressive, but I do accept Gerrard was'nt great with the ball at his feet either for definite.
I agree. I think the reason Hobbs has come in for some stick is a lot of people on here were so desperate to praise Chester ( deservedly) they ran Hobbs down to make out Chester was even better. People forget Chester has Rosenior next to him. Hobbs has had to guide Dudgeon, a young inexperienced left back, through the season.
Oy your getting brave aint you Mr Circle??? And why is that I dont deserve my say like everybody else? Because I aint a sheep and I dont say and do as most others do? And dont say that every player in a City shirt is the next Wayne Rooney and that I dont think we are invicible? People like yourself dont go to home or away games and feel you have the god given right to shoot people down in flames without any substance, with your short one sentence responses all the time. You really are sad and weak. I am a Hull City fan, and have been for many years since I was a kid. I am more passionate about them then most on here guaranteed and this is often the reason people like you get upset when I say things that you dont want to hear even if I think it is for the benefit of the team. Yesterday you fell out with me when it all kick started over me saying Harper is S*hite and I stand by my comments, he is !!! I know many will say... but who else could we have brought on??? Fair point but for me Harper should not even bench, he is not good enough. Its not my job to say who should play in place of Harper, these are merely my opinions but I do feel IN THE GOOD OF THE CLUB that we have better or can bring in better than a player of Harper's type. He gives away cheap possession, his legs have gone, he looks like a headless chicken most of the time, so sorry once again if I do or have offended people but this is 100% not my intention. From what people have said about Hobbs, I feel he is a young lad who could be full of promise, but yet again for me the jury is still out. @ Isitintheeaststand - your comment is barely worthy of a mention, another one who clearly jumps on the merry mens band wagon just for the ride. My season pass is located in the east stand, bang on half way, pretty much pitch side for your info though. @ Pearsons Flat Top - I can tell you are a decent member, very composed in what you write, its to you I apologise to for been a bit too gun-ho yesterday maybe but I hope my explaination above explains to a certain degree why?
You're completely missing the point. Pretty much everyone thinks Harper is ****, the point is, that immediately after a very good 1-0 away win is not the time to air that view.
No... OLM your missing the point. Read through the thread were I commented on Harper, I made my comments immediately as he was introduced to the game NOT AFTER. Once I said Oh No ... Why Bring Harper on or words that affect that was it, Fuk Me, the 'I Love Harper' Brigade came out in force !!! Also for the record, a fews others said the same then when I started getting the brigade on to me, all the others that had commented seemed to disappear. Did'nt realise there was ever a right or wrong time to say a player is as you put it is... ****
I know you made it when he came on, but you kept banging on about it long after the game had finished, the match thread turned into 12 pages of nonsense.
Well I'll be dammed, I actually agree with you on this one and never saw it like this before. Fair point Chazz-eee
And why was that ask yourself??? Who kept banging on about it??? I did like your doing right now, I replied to people comments based on what they had wrote about my comments so you could argue THE OTHER MEMBERS kept banging on about it !!!
Ha, yes agree I hope he doesn't make me look like a tool ! Agreed Gerrards aerial prowess was his saviour. I think I'll qualify my judgement by saying 'in Hobbs we have a more rounded player with bags of POTENTIAL' As OLM says we really should NOT be knocking anyone having enjoyed a 9 match unbeaten run and some real quality moments. The futures bright!
I don't see why everyone says Harpers ****, I think he's a tidy player being played way out of position as in no way on the big bangs blue green brown and whatever other colour earth is he a DM by any stretch of the imagination. He's neither a right or left sided DM either before you argue that point. Hobbs is very good, and he's really not that bad with the ball at his feet. For another one of our players who is worse with the ball and distributing it look no further than Paul Mcshane. I'm not trying to pick fights with you tigershull but some of the things vous posted since last night are bizarre to say the very least if you are telling the truth about following the tigers your whole life. Judging by a few of these comments I struggle seeing you being around much before the premier league.
Well you better believe it midlands, I've been following City from Boothferry to Wembley !!! Last 18 years. My comments are my thoughts and just how I see things, just out of interest, what dont you agree with that I've posted? That Harper is S*hite or that I dont Rate Hobbs at this precise moment in time?
THETIGERSHULL i hope you're not including me in the 'i love harper brigade' if it even exists, but just to correct you on one thing. Hardly anyone was saying how brilliant Harper was but that it was the right decision putting him on given the situation we were in. Nobody was banging on about it afterwards apart from you as you jept repeating the line how anyone but Harper should have been brought on or even on the bench in the first place. Which kept bringing in new people answering the same question over and over, that's what brought on the 12 pages of nonsense. You seemed intent on finding someone like-minded and even the others who had whinged about bringing him on went quiet as i suspect they realised in hindsight that it was the best option 1-0 up away from home with 3 strikers on the pitch and 5 minutes to go. You also accused someone of knowing jack about Hull City because they thought bringing Harper on was a good decision (which implies you think NP knows jack about Hull City as he clearly thought it was a good idea too).
Centre back partnerships need time to get to know each other, I think now Hobbs and Chester look to have now got to grips with each others game.
Burnsy and Swanny were singing Hobbs' praises yesterday, i know he divides opinion but we have a good defender on our hands, half of one of the best defensive partnerships in the league. I'm not sure whether he should be captain (Rosenior as captain imo) but along with Chester, Rosenior and Dudgeon he's a vital part of what is a formidable defence at present, and his contribution shouldn't go unnoticed. Good to hear big Dele looked a handful when he came on, he may well have a part to play this season.
