Who does Neil Taylor play for? Never heard of him. Has Sordell done much for Bolton since leaving Watford? Slightly strange inclusion that, but otherwise looks decent enough.

Taylor plays left-back for Swansea (and Wales), he's decent. Should be a good understanding between him and Caulker if they both play.

Think Sordell's in based on his England U21 form.

LB for Swansea. Had a really good first season in the PL - but then, the whole team has.

Fair enough, so long as he's there for the right reasons. I guess Welsh players don't get so much attention.

I think Sordell ahead of Jordan Rhodes is more controversial to be honest, shows Pearce's England U21 bias.

Not sure on the rules, but unless there is a reason surely Chamberlain should be in the squad?

Scotland were the main opposition to the whole Team GB thing all along so my feeling is that a compromise was made at some point that none of their players would be picked for the squad. As Rhodes has now nailed his colours to that post then that's ruled him out.

I believe there's some sort of agreement with the FA that players who went to the Euros wouldn't play at the Olympics - an exception was made for Butland as he wasn't originally even on the reserve list & didn't actually play.

No actual rule but the FA said that Pearce couldn't pick any players from England's Euro 2012 squad although Butland was allowed as it was assumed that he was unlikely to get any playing time at the Euros.

The Welsh FA were equally anti so unless Rhodes has ruled himself out (unlikely) I'm more inclined to think he just hasn't been picked.

Would have had to take one of the over-age slots, non-starter really.

Pearce was hardly likely to use one of three over 23 slots on Lallana.

And to Chamberlain, you can add Walcott, Wellbeck, Carroll, Henderson, Kelly and Jones.

    It certainly depleted Pearce's options.

The fact that (at least) one of GB's matches will be in Cardiff though (where as none are in Glasgow) suggests to me that the Welsh were more on board than the Scot's though.

I think in truth though, none of us really know, so anything we suggest will just be speculation and theories.

I guess the next thing to find out is who Pearce selects as captain. I'd guess Giggs is the logical choice, but then Ramsey is the Welsh captain and Bellamy has been the Welsh captain the past.
