Kent - you are right. Jack Army season ticket holders should NOT be allowed to buy tickets for home matches. It is a **** up and hopefully it will be resolved for our second season in the Premiership <ok>

I think the ticket allocation system is wrong, but for different reasons than most people by the sounds of this thread.

I don't see why when someone has paid £25 to join a membership scheme, and I have paid hundreds of pounds to be a season ticket holder, that they have priority over me when it comes to buying general sale tickets. I know I don't need a ticket because I obviously have one, but I know lots of people who have been Swans fans all their life and haven't been able to get a ticket, and I would sell mine at cost price to them. I think my decision to sell to someone who I consider a Swans fan, will be more considered than an automated computer system, and so I should at least have the same opportunity has someone who has invested a fraction of the money I have invested.

I think it would be fairer to abandon the jack army membership for next season and just have a free-for-all for general sale tickets

    Mustyfrog,

I think what you are talking about here is a season ticket resale for individual matches. I am not aware that there is or even a proposed scheme to allow you to do this. I do however know that other clubs have this facility.

    Leeeeon,

I Appreciate your point and as I have always said in this and other correspondence I fully appreciate the value of season ticket holders to the club. However my issue is that the club introduced this scheme to allow supporters, who are not season ticket holders, to pay £25 for the priority opportunity to buy tickets to watch the Swans live. The points accumulation scheme gives season ticket holders a major advantage in obtaining tickets for away games. Which I feel is fair enough given that season ticket holders paid a £10 membership to the Jack Army. The issue I have is with home tickets as illustrated by what you have said. It does not seem fair to me that other non season ticket Jack Army members could lose out on home tickets bought by season ticket holders to give to others who are not members of the scheme.

Like you I would much prefer a fairer way of allocating tickets for all.

That's a fair point. If you have paid the £25, you would expect to have at least a small advantage over people who already have a ticket. And I can understand that it is unfair to have someone who is not a jack army member getting a ticket over someone who is. I would definitely persist with e-mails to the club, as I had a problem with my seat, and it took 3 or 4 e-mails before I had a response. I wouldn't be too hopefull of a resolution, but you should get a response.

I just think the whole membership scheme was a bad idea and that's why I didn't sign up to it. It means that even though I bought a season ticket, because I am not a Jack Army Member I have the same priority as general sale when it comes to buying either home or away tickets. And even though you bought a Jack Army membership that doesn't give you a significant advantage either. It seems like it was purely a money making scheme that was not thought through, and as a result, tickets have ended up in the wrong hands.

I think the more people who complain about this to the club, the more likely we are to see it reviewed for next season, so keep bugging them until you get a response!

Kent Swan - I am a non-season ticket jack-army member, and I was also angry at the distribution of tickets with regards to season ticket holders being allowed to purchase additional tickets as well. I was in the top points bracket for jackarmy members for the Man Utd game yet the tickets sold out before they even went on sale to me, meaning that approximately 2000 tickets went to existing season ticket holders. I was furious, but I believe that this may be an oversight on the clubs behalf and hopefully it will be solved by next season.

With regards to the jack-army membership scheme as a whole, I have to be honest and say that, although not perfect, I am a firm supporter of it. At the season's start, and not being able to afford a season ticket, I had resigned myself to not being able to attend any games this season, after missing only a handful in the previous 6 years. But the jack-army membership offered myself and my best friends an alternative. As a group, we discussed it, and decided that this year was too good an opportunity to miss out on, so agreed to attend as many away matches as possible to try and acquire the points necessary to get tickets for the "big" games, with the holy grail being Old Trafford at the season's end. Now I fully respect and understand that different people have differing reasons why this is not a viable option for them, but I must mention that I am a full time student who also works 30+ hours a week in order to make this season as memorable as possible. I mention this not looking for plaudits or respect, but merely to highlight that, Man Utd at home aside, we have been able to purchase tickets for every other game that we wanted to, simply because of our commitment to attend away days. Thus we must surely say here that our loyalty has been adequately rewarded. Of course loyalty is impossible to measure, and I know that there are other people far more "loyal" than I, who, for whatever reason, have missed out this season, but, fore mentioned season ticket mistake aside, I just do not see how the club could have made it any fairer.

Leeeeon - Please don't take this as a personal slight, for it is not intended as such, but I fail to see the fairness in your complaint that season ticket holders should have priority on general ticket sales over jack-army members or members of the public. In seasons gone by, I would agree that season ticket holders could lay claim to displaying more loyalty than non-ST holders, but this season that is clearly not the case. IMO you ST holders bought your season tickets, you have your tickets for the match, so who are the additionally purchased tickets for? Making them available to those who have attended the most games throughout the season is surely the most straightforward way of allocating fairly?

Like I've said before the Jack Army Membership, is a scam if you ask me, could see that even with it you had a cat's chance in hell to get some of those 2000 seats, given that priority is handed to season ticket holders to purchase before anyone else!........ <ok>

Big Apple - No offence taken, I don't think I worded it quite how I meant. I completely agree with you that the only way to fairly allocate tickets is to sell them to whoever has been to the most games this season, and for you and your friends to travel round the country to watch the Swans and then not get tickets for the big teams is definitely not right. I just think they could have done it with ticket stubs, or a database of tickets bought, instead of an added membership scheme. I don't think season ticket holders should have priority when buying home general sale tickets either, but because I didn't join the JA membership, I have less priority than a non-ST holder who is a JA member. So it means I have little chance of getting an away ticket. Although it wouldn't have been perfect, I think a first come first served system would have worked better.

Musty - I think the season tickets that haven't been renewed go on sale in March/April, but I've heard rumours (maybe on here) of a waiting list for them. You might want to enquire pretty soon if the rumours are true. Our second season in the Premiership is going to be in high demand

What they should have done is come up with a scheme for away tickets only. The tickets for home games should be on general sale with no stipulations on a first come first served basis.
I've heard numerous rumours that there is a waiting list of 5000+ for season tickets.
The other thing I've noticed this season is that the people who run the travel club (volunteers) are no longer inside the club shop and they've been kicked outside in the cubicle. It just seems to me to be another example of the club sticking two fingers up to the fans. These are people who just support the team and organise travel giving up their own time for nothing to
help the fans and the club. It just makes my blood boil.

Even BBC Wales' cricket correspondent Edward Bevan had been left out in the cold, tweeting: "Queued again, unsuccessfully, for tickets at the Liberty today and after the great win, will continue to stand in the cold!"

We are in good company it would seem!..........
