I was never in favour of appointing BR, but must say he has done better than I thought he would. However, as I stated prior to the season much of that was down to Suarez. I think it also has to be said that getting 6th or 7th is no great achievement, most decent managers with good resources would achieve that. For the money he has spent, I can't really see an area in which we have improved much? I admit though, that it is fine margins, and he has been very unlucky this season with the injuries to Sturridge; but can I see BR winning the League, not really.

Let's not beat about the bush.

IF ( and it is a big if) Mourinho was appointed as our manager would a challenge for the title or even a win within 2-3 years be a surprise ? No.

Because we would expect him to get rid of the dead wood, and bring in the right players to do a job for him. No recruiting of value for money players just to be squad members.

The same thing if we appointed Wenger ancelotti or guardiola, they are proven winners.

If he has been owned so comprehensively by van Gaal and Wenger in the 2 most crucial matches of the season, what does this say about Rodgers and his ability to take this club where we want to be ?

I am afraid that 2nd was the pinnacle and he is on the way down.

I think Rodgers has a lot of attributes... with the right squad he's shown he can provide a platform for players to improve.

Two big concerns are obviously the defensive frailty and the transfer record...

I know we don't have the most choice, resources etc right now but we should be doing much better.

I was vocal earlier in the season that I'd take Simeone if he wanted to come but Rodgers has changed my mind and has done a good job. Yes the last 2 games are disappointing and I think it's clear where the problem lies and that is the same as it was at the start of the season. We didn't replace Suarez, if he was in the team we'd be in the top 4 no doubt.

So where are we then? The squad has been built, loads of young talented players we need to spend big this Summer on quality not quantity. I'd be happy with 1 signing, a striker.

    So.............

    -------------------Mingo-----------------
    Manquillo-Skrtel-Sakho-Moreno
    -------------Can---------Lucas--------
    -------------------Hendo----------------
    -------------------------------Coutinho
    -----------Studge------????---------

I know most may disagree but if we go and buy 5 or 6 players again we'll be back to square one, there's also plenty of cover in every position with the squad we have, and the ability to change the formation to include the likes of Sterling, Ibe, Lallana, Markovic, Lovren, Flanno etc.

The problem with simply having Suarez back is that it would mask the issues which we are currently seeing.

I think we simply need to buy 3 players - a CB, DM and ST. Improve the spine of the team and others will flourish.

I disagree, the young players we have like Coutinho, Can, Moreno, Sterling, Ibe and Sakho have improved and will continue to improve having that quality up top pushes defences back and creates room in midfield. Nothing wrong with this squad, there's quality throughout the problem is the same as when we started the season, no Suarez replacement..

Defence is still poor - despite the clean sheets, it's still weak.

    Midfield Is non existent.

Attack has little movement and final ball is poor.

Manager is tactically inflexible and egotistical, not to mention a poor judge of player. Oh, he's awful at squad management/rotation.

With a squad that bad he's done miracles to get us to a challenge of the top 4 and an fa cup QF. Should knight the man <yikes>

    or or I suppose he's just #luckedout <whistle>

Nope - Suarez should be knighted as he led that attack. Fair play to Rodgers for basically unleashing him.

defence and midfield are just as weak as when he first joined.

so LuckedOut Brigade can keep their heads in the sand - but I won't be joining.

Also - quite a few people have said that some senior LFC players weren't happy with Rodgers at the weekend after he had a go at Kolo.

Well we are currently well outside the top four, and could yet finish below Spurs who have had a relatively poor season, Southampton who started the season with hardly any players, a new manager new to England, and less likely, but possibe, his old Swansea side who keep losing players and are doing better than Rodgers did, for which he got the Liverpool job. And yes we are in the QF of the FA Cup, but so are Blackburn, Reading and Aston Villa!!!

Rodgers doesn't solve problems - merely masks them.

We had a problem with goals - he built the attack around Suarez who led the attack. Take him out and Sturridge and Sterling have regressed.

Our defence has been. Poor for a while - play 3 at the back and it helped. But still prone to same mistakes and errors.

I'm actually p*ssed off with him, especially after his Comments about struggling to attract players without CL.

And all this problem with goals is technically correct, but we must have been the most unluckiest side I have ever witnessed in Dalglish's last season, and I also support Halifax Town who have had a curse over them for a hundred years!!! There were only minor tweaks needed in the forward department, or just patience until the luck turned around?

Well outside but 2 weeks ago people here were putting us as favourites and 2 draws instead of 2 defeats and we'd still be in with a chance.

True about fa cup, but then chelsea city United Spurs saints Swansea aren't.... So can ways look at things 2 ways.

Exactly, I was just countering YOUR way of looking at it!!! The truth is a season is like a rollercoaster, depends when you comment just where you are on it, at the moment, we are miles behind!!!

The PL this season has been awful in terms of actual quality and ability. The fact that United are as high as they are is proof of that.

We should have been qualifying for top 4 but with ease.

Only Chelsea and Soton can come out of this season with credit.

Sometimes one piece solves a puzzle, each piece then fits. That's the way I see it.

Give me a top class striker and I think we are in business, I understand why some will disagree though there's a lot to pick over this season.

With Gerrard going we really need to start buying experienced players. We've seen far too many experienced players leave and be replaced by inexperienced youngsters, in comparison. I don't know who, or from where, but I think we need to really look at getting some older heads in the team, because I don't think the performance against Arsenal happens with experienced heads in the team.

Also sort the striker and right back situation out and we won't be too bad then.

With that performance Kolo must be thankful he didn't move to Turkey in the summer.

He'd be Easter leftovers by now.

EDIT: Again think the key is experience... Would Maxi have overhit Markovic's pass to Sterling at 0-0? Who knows - but it's unlikely!
