I believe if hes found guilty off gross misconduct city can sack him without paying him a penny and retain his player registration so he wouldnt be able to join a new club without them buying him. Believe this happened to that guy mutu who was at chelsea - Got sacked by juventus (i think) for using coke signed for another club and was sued for£12million succesfuly
Sorry. It was chelsea who sacked and sued him he appealed only to have it raised to £14.5mil. Chelsea claimed for loss of transfer, merchandise and wages. How much did city pay for tevez again...?
Wasn't exactly successful - Chelsea did sue him for damages and were awarded £14m or so - but Mutu never paid up and probably never will. The whole sorry affair has dragged on for around 6 years - and Mutu has been playing continually in Italy since it started. So much for the justice system, not to mention the football community sticking together.
