Iturbe will be eligible to play against Man City. if he is deemed good enough to give someone a rest, I am sure he will.
So he is here and starts training this week! Amazing that we are attracting this level of player and that is the level of player the club are looking to recruit
Nah, it's dark outside, he'll already be in the pub with his crew choosing which members of a minority group they're going to beat up on their way home.
Bournemouth are trying to hijack the deal, offering Romania more money and Iturbe higher wages. We wait to see what is decided!
Obviously Romania was meant to be Roma and predictive text stepped in! Lol. Apparently QSF didn't want him. In Pozzos and QSF we trust.
Watford have opted against following up their interest in signing Juan Manuel Iturbe on loan with a formal offer after holding talks with the player and his representatives today. They have not, contrary to reports, been outbid for the player by Bournemouth. The Argentine forward, 22, flew into Heathrow early this morning, with a party that included his agent Pierpaolo Triulzi, in a bid to force through a move to Watford. The loan fee and percentage of his Roma wages were well within the Hornets’ financial reach. Watford’s reasons for not taking Iturbe, one of countless players they are being offered and linked with, given their lofty position, are thought to be two fold. The Hornets told the player’s representatives earlier this evening they would not be taking negotiations any further. He is now being linked with a move to Eddie Howe’s team. Iturbe had the first part of a two-part club medical that usually takes place at a clinic in Harley Street. The second part, held at the training ground, is not carried out until the club’s key decision makers have rubber-stamped the deal. While the results were being pored over, Iturbe met Watford’s chief executive Scott Duxbury and Quique Sanchez Flores and held lengthy talks, lasting most of the day. The Grove has previously been used as a venue for such discussions. Sanchez Flores told us on Friday about his admiration for the player – “He is a very good player. He has power, he shoots, he can cover different positions,” he said – but the Spaniard sets more stall on the character of a player than most coaches and spoke late last week of how “the eye contact is important and the smell and the touch”. “I like to test them,” he said. It was, for this reason, why nobody at Vicarage Road was getting ahead of themselves about a deal being finalised to bring him to Watford, despite the noises coming out of Italy.
A wee bit disappointed , but nowt wrong in being thorough ...At least we are not in a position where we will be making too many panic buys .
Maybe he demanded a guaranteed 1st team spot? Looks like Bournemouth will sign him instead - probably go and get injured then! They probably need him more than we do so prepared to offer more but again they seem to be going for the loan option first - maybe like us not really convinced on the player and of course will he stick around if they go down?
3 goals in 39 games for Roma. 18 goals in 123 games career total - is that impressive? Seems like a total mercenary to me - we want the right sort of player - ones that smell of fabreze
His character must be wrong. Well done Flores and team for not kowtowing to player demands! More fool Bournemouth. It's a lot of money for a player with no proven record and who makes unreasonable demands despite that!
Quique Sanchez Flores says Watford ended their interest in Roma winger Juan Iturbe due to the winger’s demands for a starting place in the Hornets side. The 22-year-old was poised to join the club on loan after Watford had agreed a deal in principle with Roma over the weekend. Iturbe flew to England on Monday to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms with the Hornets. It was at that stage the deal collapsed. The Paraguayan wanted guarantees over a place in Flores’ starting XI, something the Spaniard and Watford were not prepared to give so they pulled out of the move. “Sometimes it is the decision of the player not to come and sometimes the club decides that he is not the right player,” Flores explained this morning. “The case of Iturbe was very clear. He is coming to England because he is not playing enough games in Italy. “But I couldn’t tell him he would play here (at Watford). So it is good for us and for him to look for a different situation.” Watford and Flores deserve credit for sticking to their convictions. The Hornets head coach has said numerous times every player at the club has to work hard if they are to make the first team. That won’t change and it is why the Spaniard hopes Watford are able to recruit players next month who are willing to be part of the club’s future. Not just the here and now. He said: “If it is possible to sign players next month they’ve got to be thinking about helping Watford in the future. “If they are involved in our future then they will not worry if they are not playing right away. The team now is good but we need cover in different positions. “We need to bring in players who can be top level. If not we can’t improve. So if we can bring in players I want them to be able to play at the top level.” I think that wraps that one up for good.
Sounds the right decision for both parties - we do not need players who make demands and possibly upset other players. He can be an ever present at a little club like Bournemouth
Wd Sport posted this tonight, thought it interesting. 17:39 Lucky escape by the sounds of it "It looks like he was never going to cut it at Roma. This is a player of immense talent but perhaps not the intelligence to make it at a big club. I was never too keen on him. He was always a player suited to being a big fish in a small pond. He did well at a team like Verona who played for him. He has great skills, is a great dribbler, is very fast and is perfect for counter-attacking style of football. The problem is his decision making. It's intolerable. The manager at Verona said he's costing us great chances in front of goal. He needs to learn to play for a team and not himself. Perhaps at Bournemouth he can learn how to play for a team. If you are asking him to tackle and get stuck in, he isn't that man."
