After watching 15 years..including last year..of pure and utter sh*te, i cannot believe anyone is complaining about whats going on......!! Really, WTF do people want to make them happy, new owners? new players? new manager? a board that puts its cash where its mouth is? positive advertising and marketing strategies? Using existing assets to grow the brand or gloabl recognition.??...... OH HOLD ON...We've got that already....god i bet you lot are a laugh on Monday morning at work.!!! Sorry ..rant over.....but ffs....?
I hate it when Northy is right. I know it's a massive marketing coup, but I was hoping for a signing, it's been nearly 9 days since our last. Now this plane should be brought to England to be used as official transport for fans who want to fly to the away games!!! With the plane making a flyby over the opposing stadium, flushing the blue ice (chemically treated piss) out as we pass over.
Some of our fans seem to think we should buy Messi. Some seem to hate every positive step. Some seem to have forgotten just how far we've come in a few short years. Let's just enjoy the journey, get behind the team and bloody appreciate what we've got.
I can see what you're saying and I love the tribute to Alan McDonald but there is starting to become a bit of a pattern of big announcements that build up the fans expectations but are actually meant, in part at least, for a wider audience. I am interested in the running of the club, the revenue streams, the infrastructure that will make us successful in the future etc. but I generally classify my passion as football and not trade and marketing. I also have no intention of swapping my Sky Sports subscription for a 12 month sub to the Financial Times.
I come to LR for the footiie...but the only reason we are buying Cisse and Park etc because TF puts money in......and if he wants to up his profile in this way to generate money and interest...tis alright by me A plane in blue and white hoops and Alan McDonald on it. Brilliant on all fronts...great for fans, great for investors, great for our/his profile. great for TF Thank you TF
No-one is asking you to switch your Sky Sports package to the Financial times......there are lots of things going on to do with the club and they like to make noise about it all.....it doesnt only have to be about new players. Or would you prefer if they kept all this stuff under lock and key and only told you about the players? Things like the Plane drum up news and hype and get people talking about QPR.....this in turn brings us more money, so that you and I can watch quality football at Loftus Road and on your Sky Sports subscription.
I appreciate that Tony has put us on the map at huge personal expense and has earned the right to promote his interests, including us, however benefits all parties the best. I have no objection to him doing any of it and do like to take an interest. I do think that the press releases are not generally for our benefit and are playing to a bigger crowd. As an analogy though, if your boss started talking about a big announcement and a huge buzz started to go around about what that might be and then it turned out to be a new company logo then you would feel slightly underwhelmed but the media would probably lap it up. I do appreciate the high level of quality players that the board are bringing in, I guess I just need to ignore the hype.
Let's face it, we just aren't used to any sort of positive PR at our beloved little club. Now we are moving forward and dipping our toe in the big boys pool, we have to get used to these sorts of PR announcements. They may not be as exciting as a new signing to us fans, but they are every bit as important in the development as a club. We are now in that transition period where we move away from the club we knew, to the club of the future. Some won't be happy with the end picture, but it is progress in the new world of football, we have to move on and accept the new big picture or we would have been just another team looking at financial doom each season. But we're in good hands, and unlike so many previous so called messiahs, our Tony and Amit are sticking to all their promises and are no mugs in business and have genuine passion for the club. It's all positive to me, even if I did want it to be a signing.
I'm probably coming across as a bit of a spoilt brat here. What I'm trying to say is I prefer my news straight to the point and my footy to be full of speculation and excitement and not the other way round. I wouldn't swap TF for the world and do hope he gets as much out of the club as he's allowed us all to.
Ji-Sung, The Asia tour and the plane will have each played their part in spawning Rangers converts in the far east - not to mention a good few more over here. What I'm not seeing on this packaging though is the requisite health warning: Rollercoasters Can Damage Your Nerves! Poor ****ers, don't know what they're letting themselves in for - but then again, neither did we!!
Some people want their cake and eat it. In the modern day football and business are interwoven. Jumpers for goalposts is a thing of the past. However strongly we feel about it, we need to accept it as the old model would no longer be sustainable. In most cases the new one isn't even sustainable.
I can't find the old thread about updating the Not606 QPR background image where this comment probably belongs, but I was just thinking that now we've got our own branded plane, plus our own branded Formula One team, that's got to be unique and worth including somehow, surely? I think it would be nice if any new image montage features not only our players and managers, (whether they be past or present) but also the QPR branded plane and the QPR branded F1 car.. Anyway, I'm no photoshop expert so it's ultimately not up to me, but it I thought it worth mentioning...
