About 35 years ago, my eldest daughter asked how would I feel if she brought a black boyfriend home, I said he can be any colour he wants, just as long as he doesnt support the mags
The reason I married my wife was her dad set us up on a date when we were travelling to the match from Stanley on Tommy Gillingham’s bus in 1966

Might have missed it, you say all I think it's actually 1 or 2 that mentioned where they are from. So you think your a more loyal supporter because you were born in the city. To me supporting the club is getting behind the lads home and away, I travel all over the country with loads of lads from Northumberland.
This to me is supporting the club, rather than sitting on a match day thread when we are losing tearing strips off the club and the same individuals yet disappear and make very little comments when we win.
Everyone on here has different opinions on this matter and different degrees of how bad it is, I think only one person has said they are not bothered by it. I think everyone else believes it's been a cock up.
However to say its only people born in Sunderland that are totally outraged it a completely untrue with absolutely no evidence to back it up.
We wouldn't be the club we are without supporters from outside of Sunderland

I get that. I just wanted to see the wider scope of things mate. That's all.

I'm from Sunderland, born in Hendon, raised in Red House, still living here after a period on the dark side. I'm much less outraged than you think I should be. Perhaps it's because I no longer recognise the club formerly know as NUFC as a direct rival any longer, just an extension of one the most heinous states on the planet hoping to sportswash themselves into the history books. Perhaps it's because I'd like to know the full detail of what, and why what happened, happened before donning my moral chainmail. I stand by my moral compass an apologise to no-one for my opinions. With respect, I think you owe some posters an apology. Enjoy your day.

Edit: and if https://www.not606.com/threads/its-skunks-talk-time.410480/page-33#post-17241525 is true, then it dissipates the "they knew all about" talk pretty much completely.

You have your own opinion that's absolutely fine. I don't expect you to have a certain one. Was interested to see the scope of things on a wider scale.

I don't think it will have anything to do with where your born , if you have the passion for the club it will depend on how you look at things personally.
Believe me when you live and work where the smelly twats outnumber you 10 to 1 you hate them even more.
Simple fact is when it comes to football you can't have a conversation or argument with them because their replies are just so uneducated and self indulgent.
It's quite unbelievable that you can have a civil and educated conversation about anything else, but mention football and they morph into that little nonce they have on YouTube

Cheers for the input mate.

Mate I’ve backed 99% of your stand on this fiasco, but believe me I’m from the Durham pit collieries and SAFC are bred into us and have been for decades, and have a passion for the club equally or more than people from the City of Sunderland

100% this. There are any amount who weren't born and bred in the City, and who don't live there, but live and die for the club, and who feel this Mag insult which has been thrown to us as much as anyone. People who spend huge amounts of time and money so they can see the lads.....many,every match....which puts hopping on a local bus an hour before kick off,and being home before the curry house opens, into a bit of perspective.
@Prehab26 has succumbed to his emotions and lost the plot a little bit here.

Not at all. Just find it an interesting topic given the nature of the derby.

It's on the back page of virtually every newspaper this morning and is the main topic of conversation in the online BBC sport fa cup coverage.

Nah, it's nothing though.

Get off your knees man.
It’s In the media because of walapers trying to have protests and asking for media coverage a massive own goal by some of our lot

That's like me living in Northumberland Iain, although there are quite a few of us we are definitely outnumbered by the plastics who have never been to a game in their lives.

Well, the main thrust of your argument that fans who are born and bred in the City will feel the insult more than those who aren't, has been soundly rejected.

Some could view it that way. Some may not. Was interesting debate either way.

Just been past the stadium and there dosent appear to be a temporary fence or barrier in place,if this is the case I can see a load legging it as soon as they’ve got there match ticket in the hand

Yes it looks as though 15% of townies couldn't give a ****.

I'm a townie who's neither enraged and ain't happy about the situation.

For people to be asking for the owner to be booted out is ludicrous.

He's first owner since Murray who's trying to run the club the correct way. Living within our means and finally using the academy for what it's there for.
