I am asking if you would consider why people born and raised in the city seem to have more rage over this. That's all.
When I first joined the precursor of this forum, the BBC606, I was told that my opinion wasn't valid as I admitted to not living in the NE anymore. This attitude is equally arrogant in my opinion.
I wasn't brought up in Sunderland but I spent plenty of time there as it was where my Grandparents lived. I knew/know it pretty well. It's still where everyone in my family considers to be 'home' despite only one family member actually living in the city anymore.
Living just outside London now, the derby possibly means more to me now than it did when I lived in the NE. I have to put up with all the plastic mags, the neutrals (including in-laws) who don't understand the history of the fixture (or of the region), and who think it's funny to wind me up about it.
This forum is a place for all of the exiles and the wider Sunderland/NE diaspora to stay connected to club. There are people from all over the world who love our club. Its massively disrespectful to question anyone's love/understanding/attachment to the club or the city on here. [In my opinion, of course].
to be fair people who don't live in sunderland and live in areas that are 50/50 probably hate the mags just as much and have to deal with them a lot more everyday , and deal with them a lot more then people in the sunderland area, if anything them ones are probably getting more **** from this then the ones in sunderland, my nephew, live in south tyneside and he's had **** chucked at him since it happened having to see his mate share it and laugh

Honestly, just trying to understand why there seems to be such a disparity in terms of wether you're a Sunderland lad still to this date, or not. Really don't mean to cause offense. Genuinely find it interesting

No, you are telling me that I should "consider that citizens of Sunderland and actual Mackems" might be more incensed than I am because I am from Stanley and not Sunderland.
You appear to be making me and others like me, second class supporters who don't have the same feeling for the club as you do. I feel that strongly for the club, I buy two season cards every year and actually support the club, not like you coming on here and Twitter slagging the club at every opportunity.

For what it’s worth I reckon the extent that this branding change went to is an absolute piss take. EVERYONE knows it would be insulting and humiliating for Sunderland supporters.
Do I think that whoever was in charge of this from our side has been negligent? Yes
Do I think some disciplinary action should be taken? Yes
Do I think it’s a huge PR mistake? Yes
Do I think we’d be better off hounding KLD out of the club? No
Do I think we should be having protests? No
It’s done, it’s ****e, KLD has addressed it in the short term and by the sound of his statement last night, intends to sort it long term too.
Let’s get back to supporting our club.

I don't think its got anything to do with it. Sunderland and the NE is part of my identity as much as anyone who lives in Sunderland. Possibly more so. That's what happens when you have an obviously different accent, support a different club, have different points of reference to the people you live amongst.
I am more incensed by people overreacting to it, turning on the best owner I can remember, and generally behaving like mags.

I think the mags have took the piss and the owner has acted as soon as he's seen it. He's taken responsibility and promised to sort it out.
I was more pissed off when I seen SAFC players out in the piss in Newcastle after we beat them.
There's been a lot of people with double standards getting their nickers in a twist.
Wonder where I fit in this. Born in Sunderland, moved away for 40 years and I hate the mags as much as anyone who's lived here their whole life

Why? If there is an affront then it's an affront on the club not an affront on the city.
