Bet you also remember the 'Ant and Dec Messiah' banner when their dull football sent you down.

He did spend 92 million in his time with Villa, but he did get Downing-Young-Milner all of which have been sold for a profit since he left.

he also signed Fabian Delph who i had forgotton all about tbh, but he was out for 8 months with Knee ligament damage and looked like a really good young player for Leeds.

lets just see what transpires, it looks like Quinn is a better salesman than Lerner when it comes to getting value for money when selling players, (MON didnt make that much back, not like Bruce).

Just ask ANY Villa fans and ask them..would they have him back right now. As for his record...Any cup wins for a team like Leicester is unreal, as for anyone doing what he did at Celtic...check the record books...Don't think so. Lennon not doing that well. He is class. I am delighted we seem to have him (fingers crossed) I guess its always going to be the case that our nearest and dearest will try and pick the bones of whoever we got in...It just the way it is.

Whilst I would prefer Hughes, isn't it good for us as a club that we are discussing this class of manager for SAFC?

As for boring football, I really don't care if it brings us silverware, safety.............................Europe (eventually!)

    MO'NI !!!!!!!!

I'm trying to work out if the 1/3 is value on him, can you confirm how confident you are in this before I do my nuts?

A word of caution, the the journo did say it was subject to the "t"'s being crossed and the "i"'s dotted, so lets just wait and see.

Me, I would have rather have had Hughes, O'Neil spits his dummy out too often for me.

I got crucified for not lauding the appointment of Lawrie Mackemenemy and I have similar concerns here, Ellis will have to back him with the funds - but hey, if we do get him I will support him unreservedly and unconditionally - something many on here did not afford to Bruce.

Plus it is better than Jones or McLaren.

I'll be happy with MON but he doesnt get me as excited as he gets some other fans.

Mind you, none of the favourites to replace Bruce got me going, how did cest put it, "with a permanent hard on".

It's such a shame there are no experienced premier league managers who play the (or at least try to play) the same kind of footie as Wenger. Exciting, entertaining football.

The one thing I hope is that whoever comes in
    a. leaves our youth coaching set up alone
    b. gives our young un's a chance (*cough*noble*cough*)

btw 1/3 is a 75% chance of it happening, if you are saying 90%+ then it is value.

ha. delighted if this is true. sombrero may have a point (slightly dull football), but if he can recreate what he did at villa with us, i'll be over the moon. dull and consecutive sixth place finishes?? yes please.

are we getting a safe pair of hands in o neill?? absolutely. are we getting a wenger, a mourinho, a magician to take us to the top of the table and beyond?? of course not, but any self-respecting mackem will be over the moon with the security o neill should offer.

i say should, because it's still ****ing sunderland after all.

yes, lets give Noble a run in the team, see his confidence shatter when he comes up against top class defenders and he becomes another on the list of young players ruined by having too much expected of them too soon.

I have followed his career closely and he is not ready to get a start in the premiership, another season then on the bench.

unfair IMO, Bruce had to go based on this seasons results , but the man got us playing some cracking footie at times - Chelsea result last season and that entire run of results that had us sitting in 5th for certain. and when we did click this season, vs stoke, we were also good to watch.

but lets not argue about that now, time to move on.

  18. Nice one Billy and what we are getting maybe is a fortress at the SOL, unless of course you are a newly promoted team with Chopra playing up top.. ;)

I said give him a chance, which is what everyone was calling on Bruce to do a few short days ago. Why should that change now?

Besides, i didnt say play him 90minutes every game but 20 minutes here and there is what he deserves based on his goal record at reserve level (not 2 minutes at the end of the game).
