Did you not consider that this photo may have been taken weeks after 9/11 after the clean up operation and that cut was made by a ironworker during the clean up operation? By the way, thermite makes an ugly hole with molten metal drips/blobs. It doesn't make clean cuts. It's a powder that undergoes a violent chemical reaction.

I suppose its possible that the pic with the arrows could have been cut by clean up workers but the first picture no. That is cleary taken in the immdeiate aftermath and is in an impossibly awkward position with surrounding debris to be cut safely.
