    Because he's English bit like hamilton in F1 English and overhyped. Excepts Scholes is a legend and always will be.

    Why does he need to buy a decent CM if the options he has are working for him though? Same goes for Wenger. People criticised him for re-signing Sol Campbell but the fact is he did a decent job for them (even if he was ****e for us). Key thing about Ferguson is that he picks a target (see also: Berbatov) and gets them.
    The fact is United have very good CMs named Cleverley and Fletcher who have unfortunately been injured.

    Cleverly is a good player, but he's not international standard yet. He's got a long way to go yet.

    Hamilton overhyped? He has been criticised all year and he isn't the best, I just love watching him but Scholes seems to be this wonder player who can't do nothing wrong.

    I'll agree that Hamilton isn't overhyped. He is genuinely a world class racing driver. No doubt whatsoever about that, regardless of his nationality.

    True, he'll get better but I think Man U need a proven CM that's in their prime to regain some ground on Europes big boys.

    If Ferguson wanted to replace Scholes he should have swallowed his pride and got Alonso from Liverpool before Madrid got in there.

    You say that but the fact is they have young options. Beyond Cleverly (is it spelt ey or y?) they have Pogba who's tipped to be a real star.
    So therefore, they only really "need" a world-class CM for a short while. And it's not really worth punting upwards of £30m on someone who might deny playing time to youngsters Man U have been developing for years.
    Frankly Man U have been very unlucky with injuries this year, and they have had the misfortune of going up against the greatest squad depth ever assembled by a football club...
