They closed us down, but they can do that to every team and if it had that effect every week they'd be top of the league. Question is why can't we overcome the challenge of a team that closes us down? Similarly when teams sit back and give us no space we just don't have a way to overcome it. I don't know the answer to this. The one way I know would make it easier is not conceding in the first few minutes. When your main strengths are defence you can't concede early because then you have nothing to offer.
I think the main problem is the centre midfielders just cant create, so our only way of creating chances is through the wide men, of which there are only two, instead of the usual four, and if theyre been man marked/closed down quickly then we only have long ball, which without Simpson or even McLean is pointless.
