I''d love to see someone charge the field in the rain here. theres so many laps that the time gets completely thrown off by rain and it becomes an epic. 1996 really was an epic race. It'd be amazing to see someone just driving past cars slithering about but tbh its more likely anyone who touches the throttle will hit a barrier.
If it rained heavily on race day they’ll do a Spa? and just go round behind the safety car for 2 laps
Ferrari Red bull Mclaren/alpha tauri Then merc. Looks like wolfc wasn't lying this time when he said not a happy race for merc.
Hamilton and Russell claiming the Monaco track is too bumpy for their car and it’s not due to porpoising. Oh my heart bleeds.
Well that is interesting as it hints at what I think is the deeper underlying problems they have. The ferrari has been bouncing madly then on turn in its as stable as anything. The red bull had had higher top end speed suggesting better energy deployment or higher top end grunt. If this is too rough for mercs then their suspension with the bigger tyres is behind the others and that makes sense as they not looked good on turn in un any of the races bar barca where historically they own it. Everything so far says ferrari by a margin barring the almost inevitable sainz crash and safety car madness.
Guessing it's pretty stiff to help with the porpoising issues... So likely still linked to their major problem.
This is an event for the sponsers and their clients. Take their next big order to the event for the signature. It will never be removed. Accept the purpose, expect very little entertainment.
Hamilton speaking to Bono during FP3 and asking how he’s 1.2 seconds behind Perez. It’s now 1.6 seconds Lewis. Your car design is **** mate, it’s as simple as that.
Think there’s any chance of sub 1:12 today with the modes turned up? Looking forward to seeing where Norris can get with a hooked up lap today- he was within 3 tenths of leaders prior to track evolution and when Ferrari and RBR started trading times. Ricciardo never got a clean run after his first proper lap in FP3 and I’d like both McLarens into Q3 fighting for Row3 from everything I’ve seen, though will need to edge out Gasly to do so who has gone well. I thought Alpine would be stronger but not seen it so far- Alonso was hurling the car around in FP3 and couldn’t really make a dent and he was miles ahead of Ocon. Unless they’ve really been tuned down looks like they are just not quite up to it. Merc with the extra downforce are not containing their porpoising thus far so barring a magic set up change they are on the back foot.
I do wonder if Merc 'solved' their bouncing by using the shocks to damp out any oscillations and now with bumps it's biting them big time? It would be good to have the McLarens towards the front.
