as long as I don't have to listen to Warnock telling me that Leeds should have won and this that n the other when I had just sat through 90 minutes of us getting absolutely mullered

Yeah that was equally painful <doh> McDermott can tell us whatever he wants if he can get us playing some half decent stuff!

Reading fan in peace.

With McDermott, as with all managers, you get positives and negatives. These are my views and other Reading fans may disagree with me.

Positives are, he's used to working with small budgets and getting success. He's very loyal to his club. He is very good at spotting potential talent from lower league clubs.

Negatives are, He comes across as a yes man with club hierarchy. His plan A is contain the opposition and hit them on the break, his plan B is hoofball. Absolutely dire interviews.

But he's a really nice guy and he has a knack of getting a lot out of a little. I always felt he seemed in awe of his own position as manager of Reading. God knows how he'll feel if he really is the next manager of Leeds Utd. That is some progress when, only four years ago, he was our chief scout.

I don't think he realises what he's letting himself in for tbh, and I really don't think he'll be up to the magnitude of the task. Not too struck on his plans A and B - hope he's got a plan C

Quite a few on our forum feel he'll make a mistake if he goes to Leeds.

There is a massive expectation at Leeds and I'm not certain he'll live up to it. As I say, he's a really decent, loyal, guy. I'd hate to see him fall flat on his face. Still, who knows, he might turn out to be your saviour.

Ok, how the **** did you get that from my comment..... Because you seem to have read a hell of a lot into my 18 words.

I said he is an acceptable appointment but there are better out there and we had the opportunity to push the boat out and get someone better, I'm still happy for him to come and I would put my life on him being a better manager than Warnock or at least an easier one to deal with without cringing every time he talks. I'm hoping for this appointment to be long term, Warnock was never gonna be long term and I think we all knew deep down that Grayson wasn't gonna be particularly long term either. Now if (rather feel like I should be saying when now) McDermott gets appointed I still hope that it will be a long term appointment.

If we could've gotten Poyet (again that means pushing the boat out and actually spending some money) then I think that would've been the best choice, I also would've preferred Adkins but we just didn't act at all and it took Warnock walking for us to have the opportunity to bring in someone better. There are also other names out there that I would've preferred, doesn't mean I'm asking for Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola or anything.

Then stop sounding whiney and negative and calm down tiger... swearing away isn't good cricket. As indicated. The wishy washy comments on here... "oh he only did well at Reading because...etc."

"acceptable".... that is very decent of you and indicative of exactly that which I was alluding to.

FFS he is the best out there that would even entertain Leeds I reckon - if you were Gus would you (not likely!). I would have liked Poyet /Adkins but they are as unproven as Maccy D. Get your head out man and stop taking things so personally. "Better out there" - please qualify how Adkins and Poyet are better, I can't see the link. Is Gus better than Maccy D? As Gus hasn't managed a PL team I would say on paper that he isn't. We all want him to be in our hearts but that is where issues start. As Gus hasn't won promotion to the PL I guess her isn't (and so on...) and Maccy D lasted longer than Adkins. So there we go. Words are great, facts are greater.

Apologies if it sounded personal Josh but it was meant to be a generalisation of the numpty and negative posts that allude to "oh it will have to do." which is bad form for a manager coming into a club. Especially when he will need all of the help he can get with our utterly shambolic squad. Oh dear oh dear. What has NW done? We have Luke Varney! worse than useless!

I hope he does f'in amazing job quite frankly and outsmashes Poyet et al.

Good luck to the man.

Maccy D, Maccy D, Maccy D!

Once again josh, apologies, I am just venting my frustrations at continued and unfounded negativity.

Leeds - we're bleedin broke, all we can rely on is support.

Yes but we have been living with Warnocks interviews. *shudder* :(

Lets all wish him well :)

Obvious choice so lets give him our support but with no investment =no hope he cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear!

He could start by promoting the youth if there good enough to fill the gaps, play wingers rather than fitting in the loads of CMs he signed & playing the loan market whilst raiding the lower leagues. Oh and using subs to good affect as well <ok>

Money would be nice of course but theres plenty of changes he can make to shape the team and I'm sure he will.

cant say it exites me if it is true ? but yes we are a deluded bunch to think any big name would want the job, whats the point of going to a club who has sold almost its entire midfield to bloody norwich plus our top scorer, the crock of s***e was not warnock its our unambitious owners.

Has the same kind of CV as Warnock, gl with him, i wouldn't have minded him here if we were without a manager, one of the best unemployed.
