the free kick that lead to your goal against arsenal was pretty weak?

thing is also DH, you also have to get in the oppo's penalty area to get a penalty, or near to get a decisive free kick. law of averages, the more time you spend in the opponents half, the bigger the chance of a crucial decision going for you.

From my viewpoint in the Barclay I thought the ref had a pretty poor game on Saturday BUT regardless of this Villa's goals came through poor play on our part. Abonglahor was able to run from the half-way line and get an unopposed shot in for the first and I reckon Bunn initially moved the wrong way for the second and could not get back across in time for the second. Holty missed a sitter in extra time heading wide of an empty net. This is not bad luck, it is poor play at key times and has been thematic - the penalty miss against Saints could have saved us as could Camp not letting in a dire goal against Wigan

Yes we have had some bad luck and I reckon the loss of Ruddy has been a key problem but a lot of our problems have been self-inflicted. In the past few weeks we have lost against Stoke, Villa and Wigan. Frankly if you keep losing to the teams around you then you have no business whining when you get relegated.

In terms of luck we now need Newcastle and Wigan to have none whatsoever and lose repeatedly. We are by no means dead in the water but realistically we now need other results to go our way as I cannot see us getting anything other than a hiding at Man City and the WBA game could go either way. That said if Swansea do us a favour then things will look a whole lot better this time tomorrow.

The thing i think about is the supporter that bleats on about luck is a supporter who truly knows that things are wrong, its akin to a little child stick their fingers in their ears going lalalalalalalalalalalalala.

I was sitting in the other end and I had a clear view of the penalty decision! My immediate thought......NO, I wouldn't have given it, replays showed it possibly was, but the ref had to make a decision, I think we were lucky to get that!

ILD - I agree with you on the penalty. I had no view at the time but having seen the replays I think it was pretty soft. Still gutted that we managed to throw the game away after equalising and having all of the momentum.

It's been happening far to often, the Swansea game for one, we played quite well for a change, but still couldn't defend a lead, that almost happened at their place as well. I keep hearing that Hughton has "sorted" the defence out but I'm not seeing it!
