Or is it?

Having briefly mentioned this on another thread I thought I’d give it its own space and see if anyone is interested.

We all feel that we have been screwed over several times by refereeing and VAR decisions this season - to the extent that it could seriously affect the final destination of the title.

Other teams have their own issues with refs and VAR, so are we guilty of only noticing it when it affects us and over-exaggerating it?
Have refs got it in for us, are they suffering from subconscious bias, or are they just not very good?
Are we casually ignoring bad decisions that go our way?

Probably a forlorn hope I know, but I’d be interested in a sensible discussion on the topic, where rather than just make claims, we could present a cogent argument in support of them.

If any visitors should stumble across the thread, I’d be interested in hearing their side of the story too - with the same proviso that they make a case, rather than just descending into the usual tribal ritual of slagging each other off. Be football fans first, and club fans second.
In the long run, it benefits all of us to have a higher standard of just and effective officiating than we’re seeing at the moment.

Liverpool fans are very strange..If you're expecting everyone to play along with this poor old Liverpool agenda then you've most definitely come to the wrong place.

I didn't come here - I was abducted. :)
Anyway, I'd have thought my post made it clear that I didn't go along with conspiracy theories but was inviting an adult discussion of the idea. Definitely in the wrong place for that.

You will get some adult conversation but it'll be in amongst the meme's and nonsense spouted. Hard to find.

So let's say arsenal wint the league by 1 point

And win the champions league

Do we just forget the blatant handball by odegaard at Anfield and Gabriel's massive let off the other night which again shouldve been a pen.

Same with city, do we just foegt the fly kick to macallisters chest.

Lol **** off

Of the top 3 teams, Liverpool by some margin have a tendency to give away silly free kicks, concede sloppy goals and generally run around aimlessly tiring players.

I think if the fans were genuinely honest and not skirting around the issue, they'd probably come to the logical conclusion that Jurgen Klopps management style is not keeping up with Pep and Artetas.

I think the German style high line gergen pressing is outdated, it also struggles without a winter break in the Premier League.

Some aspects of that are true especially with this team, the constant fouling is a big issue it gives others teams an opportunity to settle and cause a problem. We've changed the high press pretty much every season though and Klopp is superb tactically (my nan may she rest in peace would have done a better job last night though). Every team complains about the schedule and being tired maybe our style makes that worse but I don't think it's much different to other teams.

I didn't see the game last night but I do wonder if mentally the Liverpool team just thought, oh it's Atalanta, I only say that because it's so unusual for Liverpool to get undone like this.

I had a quick glance at Atalanta's league form record and it appears the dark horse of Serie A have been stumbling of late, so whatever happened it's certainly one massive fook up, i wouldn't want to be a Palace supporter this weekend though, because Liverpool will be looking to remind everyone why they are top three, although haven't now said that, I remind myself Palace are good at pulling off shocks of their own.

Thoughts with Sucky at this difficult time.

Or the goal at Newcastle that went out of play, then Gabriel was fouled, before an offside player finally put it in the net

The Brentford equaliser, which was offside, but VAR 'forgot' to draw the lines

Another goal out of play against West Ham before they scored...

Speak to any fan bro, and they will give you a list of VAR **** ups against their club

We have fans who think this stuff. Listing refs who hate us <laugh>

To be honest, I don't focus on the refs, I know some of their names but only cos the fans whine, but I can't put those names to faces.

Like Tierney I thought he played for Rangers, but apparently he's a Prem ref.

I don't personally notice all that much "terrible reffing" but I do notice VAR takes far too long.

Some fans just sit there eyeballing the referee all game. It's mental.
