HangingHog fully agree with you about the chanting on Tuesday(more of that please as it certainly beats the rather limp "sing yer hearts out for the lads")

After reading through these posts I have to say that my opinion on Jewell hasn't changed. He stumbled on Drury and Hyam after injuries and suspensions meant he had no other options. Drury who is a candidate for player of the season was all but on his way to Crawley FFS! How can any one say that Jewell had Drury in his plans when it was Crawley who reneged on the proposed deal. Jewell has not got what it takes and the sooner he leaves and takes his clueless backroom staff with him the better! <ok>

JWM, The drury deal is not quite that clear cut
It was a Jewell mistake in letting him leave on loan but it was down to him that he is still here. To be fair and to show both sides it seems like we would have accepted a bid if it was high enough but that could be said of any player. it would be interesting to know what that amount was/

The point i'm making is that Drury was obviously not part of the managers long term plans and he would have been sold if the deal had been agreed. It will be very interesting to see if Lee Martin is offered a deal this summer as he will be in the last year of his current contract.

Agreed Walky, I would imagine if Bullard had of shown the form he is capable of then Drury may well have been allowed to leave either sold or longer term loan. To be fair I think we would all agree that the Bullard from last season would be a stater for us but we all know what happened there. PJ has stated ( I believe) that he will be not be put in the Norris/ Leadbitter situation again and hopefully he knows everyone 100% now so fingers crossed Martin will be signing a new deall/ sold this summer.

As long as hes not a greedy bastard and has some realism in his demands then fingers crossed. It will also depend on what ME agreed as the new budget. Its very easy for us to slate Clegg but the end decision will depend on how wells Jewells talk with ME went on Wednesday(?) I think Martin has let himself down in his town career and the first two seasons were well below par but we all know what he is capable off so lets hope he stays mate.

The arguement that Leadbitter is only playing well because hes in the shop window seems baseless to me, portsmouth were interested him throughout the season but that didnt spark a run of good form from him.

Drury - whatever went on in the negotiations the end result is hes here seemingly benefitting from the loan spell where andrews (our top scorer and argubaly best performer in the first half of the season) would have been been played in front of him anyway if he wasnt at crawley

the only major thing that has changed from the team jewell apparntly stumbled upon is leadbitter and hes doing hyams job and playing well and scoring goals - something which hyam isnt known for. you cant claim we would have continued climbing the table if Jewell continued to play hyam our results and particularly performances have continued to be impressive expecially considering the results a very similar team were returning earlier in the season

If we are serious about getting a top 6 spot next season (and I hope we are) we need to keep the nucleus of our team together. The likes of Martin, Jet, Chopra, Cresswell, Drury, Hyam, Smith and to a lesser extent Carlos. Martin has proved over the last few months that he has the ability and I think he has worked hard to banish the memories of his lacklustre first seasons with us.

It's good to see the unjust negativity during the first half of the season towards T.Smith has changed i for one have always rated him and it seems now most people agree with me.......

Funny you should ask that because I'd say:
Pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
    It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.

Like most players, T.Smith has benefitted from a sustained run in the team, likewise Martin, JET and Drury. There aren't too many people out there who don't get better with game time, something PJ should consider when he thinks about promoting academy players to the first team.
