well, lets put it like this, just as long as he see's handballs, late challenges, elbows, taking throws 20yrds further forward than they should be, some more late challenges. we will be fine.
We now have a one off game v the scum, that was what we would all have wanted before the weekend. Credit to our boys for punching above our weight! MM has kept us well in the game and anything can happen in a one off fixture..... We're comin for you Naaarwich City we're comin for you!
Just got back to Bristol. Thoughts in a nutshell * Get well Varney * Fair point * Skuse absolutely class We go again bring on leg 2.
As you well know, never been a big fan of Skuse, mainly because not that I don't think he's a good player but because he doesn't fulfil his potential and I hate players who lack courage on with the ball. He was outstanding on Saturday however, his reading and tracking back was superb coupled with a good array of passing (often forwards), needs to show this more often, he clearly has a good range of passing and ability so please use it. He really should be the type of player to step up to the plate and take the pressure off our team when we need the game slowing down but he doesn't do this!!
ptc, Skuse has been doing that now for the last few months. A bit like you I used to get very frustrated by him but he has been top class over the closing part of the season
" He really should be the type of player to step up to the plate and take the pressure off our team when we need the game slowing down but he doesn't do this!! " Half the issue Skuse has is the rest of the midfield. Had we proper wingers in a 4-4-2 with Skuse having options to hit time and time again, we'd all love him. We have quite a static midfield. If you look at options he has for a pass, often they aren't too obvious. However, with Bishop and Bru around him ( surprise surprise ) it was a hell of a lot easier for Skuse to do the passing side of the game aswell as the other side. If we could have 54% of the ball and more options made each game then Skuse would be far better still.
I've never had a problem with his passing (although he did go through a period when it was dire) he can certainly pass the ball, it's more he's not brave enough on the ball and he doesn't demand the ball when with his ability he should. I don't really care if he doesn't get the assists or goals but he should be offering himself for the ball even if it does just mean keeping play ticking over. Players like Magilton or Garvan whether they were playing well or not would show for the ball and demand it all the time, Skuse needs to start doing this because he's more than capable.
