By the looks of it, it has re-opened. Did anyone here sit there before it was sectioned off? This does not include the kids that decided to sit there in teh last few months because they were lose to the away fans and could give it the big one. The back of blocks 2/3 easily had the best atmosphere of anywhere in st marys as it was all adults, very few kids. Just wondering if any of you did sit over there and were considering moving back?

The last day of the season I was sat in the Itchen/Chapel corner and that was good fun. A lot of the lads that sat in the Itchen North were darted around and made for a pretty good atmosphere. Much better than the 'we only have 3 songs' Northam.

I used to sit here, good atmosphere near the away fans but if u sit near the front (ie. Row E) you don't get a brilliant view of the other goal at the chapel end

I so want to get a ST right at the back of the Itchen near the away fans. Was great when I had one back in 2003.

To be fair, anywhere in the ground that day had a cracking atmoshphere; hell, even the chapel sang us a song!

Great to see some unity amongst us fans as usual :headbang:

I used to sit there in about block 3 - two thirds of the way up. Cracking atmosphere, especially the day Leeds were sent down and the Sheffield United survival game. The banter between fans was brilliant and it doesn't happen in that way any more because side by side doesn't work as well as yelling and singing across the corner. One good thing to have come from the closure is the improvement in atmosphere in the Kingsland North. I'd quite like to go back to the Itchen but I'm settled in the Kingsland with some mates so we'll probably stay - too old for all this change.

I think the atmosphere will be cracking next season in sms now we are in the championship, the support that other clubs will be much bigger & it will seem like real football again after the nightmare of league1!

Blocks 1 2 3 remain closed for 2011/12 - checked with the ticket office myself on Friday when getting some U21 tickets.
Everything else that was closed previously is open.

We must be the only club that tries to stop any kind of atmosphere at our home games. What's the harm of opening that corner up ??

It was costing more to police just that section than it was to police the rest of the ground.
Every other club sticks a line of police between fans and their not bankrupt, Saints are crazy about segregation and police they're obsessed. Stick a few police on either side of the fence in that corner and you will defiantly get absolutely no trouble from Saints fans.
There was a conga last game in that corner between both sets of fans <laugh>

That was the problem, it they had to stick extra stewards and police each side of the fence. It was the area where the 'faces' sat and there was nerly always something happening up there that needed police intervention. albeit,it was aracking atmosphere.

:S - I fail to see the point of this? Just kids in the last few home games? Kids that brought oney to the club and an atmosphere that tbh in my opinion Itchen have hardly provided this season in comparison to previous seasons. Also Northam '3 songs' stand ???? What is your point there?

If i could recommend an area fo you where you will enjoy the atmosphere but be away from the 'kids' - Kingsland block 4-8 would do you wll.

Just feel this post is a tad throwing bricks in a glass house - your own glass house - We are all one!

Football fans come in all shapes and sizes.

We have raving beauties and studs and then people like me. Old overweight but married with three young kids. We should all be as one but there will always be disparity between us with the way that the club sections the ground. I remember many generations ago as a very young and impressionable fan how the kids would be shoved to the front so we were able to see. Nowadays we have a far more violent way of life and this is the club's biggest concern. Doesn't help when our own fans get sent down for disturbances either.

that was the only section of the ground that was closed. the other areas that were closed a few years back were reopened when cortese and liebherr came in.
