I hate to say it but Spain bore me too to the extent I can't watch their matches, they are technically amazing but the same thing all the time starts to grate no matter how good it is

Yes, Brannau Am Inn on 20 April 1889. The same week as Charlie Chaplin was born.

I wouldn't call Spain a 'joy' to watch, they still do a bit too much boring passing. They're clearly really good though.

Tiki taka is fantastic from a technical standpoint, but boring as **** to watch. There isn't enough going forward, it's all just retaining possession.

Look at the last half an hour yesterday - Spain just passed it about the midfield and did nowt else. Watching paint dry would've been better.

Barcelona have become much better to watch since Guardiola left, they play more attacking football. They (and Real Madrid) still play like dirty ****ers though, diving at every second and being general ****s.

Actually, it isn't. There is a bit of a row going on about its future and what to do with it.

Yes, I certainly wouldn't like to see City retaining possession and passing the ball about as they strolled to a 3-0 victory.

Well, that's the point of my post completely missed.

I quite clearly said it has merit, I just find it boring. Would rather see us play in a style similar to Germany (though not that Poland game, ugh.).

Not missed. Just saying I don't agree as far as City is concerned. I go to watch City win, not to see some attractive end to end football which me we may win lose or draw. A 3-0 win for City playing Spanish style or an injury time winner through an own goal would make me happy whilst an end to end 5-4 defeat wouldn't.

    Too many hipsters.

Any team is boring to watch when sat closing a game out at 3-0.

When Spain attack they are incredible.

This is such a lazy claim. Another of those tired cliches people trot out like 'no plan B' etc.

If you watch Spain or similar wides without the preconception that they're just keeping possession (what would be the point of that anyway?) you'll see there's clearly more to it than that. They're obviously trying to score and realise that you're more likely to achieve that by creating an actual opening than you are by just lumping it hopefully forward. England played loads of 'hopeful' passes against Wales and it was doing my head in. Thankfully we got the goal in the end but I was finding it really frustrating seeing how much time we were wasting by giving them the ball back without creating a chance ourselves.

How anyone can watch people like Iniesta and Co splitting defences in two at will and call it boring is beyond me. If they actually were just passing back and forth between two players you'd have a point, but they aren't, and that's why it's such a bullshit cliche.

    that's the thing
they constantly probe, waiting for an opening, the way they keep the ball is incredible and the reason most teams don't do it like spain is because they simply cannot do it

it's an art and a joy to watch and they've had incredible success.. a world cup and consecutive euro wins

In the 10 mins watched t'other night, there was at one stage a dozen passes - I counted - between 2 players only within 10 yards of each other and they moved about 10 yards forward in the process.

Each to their own, I won't try and convince you about it, but I find boring as arses.

And just a point but I really wasn't advocating England's style of play as being preferable.

No argument with the defence-splitting pass. but it's the 40-odd passes before then that people find boring.

It's not like it's 40 odd passes across the back four, it's constant probing until they find the opening. They don't get a player into space and hit a hopeful ball in to the box, if they get in to soace and there's nothing on they play it back out and go again.

If City played like Spain, I'm pretty sure nobody would find it boring.

Luis Enrique left Roma after ultras publicly protested that the 40 sideways passes then back to the keeper was too boring to watch.
