I've said for the last few tournaments, this country desperately needs a decent performance at a tournament just to get people onside again. A semi final would do wonders. But yet again we limp out having just scraped one win. Hodgson got far too much stick at times, but his England teams just don't perform on the big stage.

When was the last time an Englishman managed a title winning team or a team that played at the highest level in Europe?

I can't remember one and until young English coaches are given a chance I fear these abstract performances at major tournaments will continue.
