Not who you think will win but who you want to win. A Sky presenter suggested that we want Italy to lose but I beg to differ. Italy outplayed us and won and did nothing wrong. I hope they beat Germany, but what do you think. Would have done poll but don't know how.

I want Germany to win, becasue I believe they play the better style of football. I also admire the way they changed their approach to the national side ten years ago and said "We are not good enough" and made changes. Wish we would.

The Italians played well against us, but we let them. There were still moments of the old Italy in there last night. The Germans pass the ball well at pace and their movement can be a joy to watch. They also have a player that they don't expect to be involved in the game much and nobody moans that he only touches the ball about 6 times a game, as two of those end up in the net.

I think the Germans will win, but would prefer Italy. I think I'd support Germany if they were playing the Devils XI, but apart from that..never. I am not that bigger person who can sit back and hope the better team wins...the Germans have beaten us too often:smile:

Having backed Italy at 12/1 to win the tournament, naturally I want to protect my investment. Also, Italy has given us Frankie Dettori, Mario Ballotelli, and Paulo Di Canio, who will hopefully continue to keep us all amused for a few years yet. My favourite Germans, Boris Becker and Jurgen Klinsman, have both retired, so Italy definately get the nod.

I simply love the German team, and have been supporting them all tournament. They play the type of football we wish England could play, efficient in defence, with deadly attacks down the wings, all played at a high tempo. Bastian Schweinsteiger, Phillip Lahm and Mesut Ozil are players I could watch all day. How good the Germans are is summed up by the fact that Mario Gotze, a palyer that Jack Wilshere dreams about being half as good as, is nowhere near getting in their starting XI.

It's difficult, I have a new found respect for Italy for giving a smack in the face to the England fans who disgracefully overrated the team, and to hopefully teach England a big lesson, so them for that, but I also LOVE Germany, and have preferred them to every other team (especially England) all tournament because I love the way they play. People cream over Spain's brand of football but this Germany team for me, any day.

Steady on Dan, fella. I think they play really exciting football too and can't wait (hoping) for a Spain Germany final as it will be a real test for both.... but "LOVE germany"? Come on!

(note: FLT throws in light hearted moment as he feels he has stood on his soap box all morning boring people)

Okay okay, love the way Germany play, is that better? :p

Portugal v Italy would do for me, purely because it was Spain v Germany two years ago. Let's keep it varied, don't want it all getting too same-same.

Also, if Italy beat Germany, then we don't look as bad after all.

The match also shows that Italy created loads of chances and couldn't convert any of them. Many failures were due to good England last-ditch defending, but some were plain poor finishing. They'll need to start scoring to beat Germany.

I would absolutely love it if Portugal beat Spain. Spain have been boring the pants off me with their "football as chess", and "we're so good we don't even need a striker" approach. I'm also a bit weary of all the football purists idolising them. Ronaldo can redeem himself in my eyes by exposing the weakness at the heart of the Spanish tika-taka nonsense.
