We lost 10 games under Martinez, 11 under Sousa....

Sorry I'm just trying to stir things up a bit :D

Of course he doesn't need to pay homage to the past Norway, that's not the point, and it's not looking backward, to have a perspective of how we arrived here, and Ivor's point is very valid in my view. Valley they have always said we'd be found out, we had that in the Championship too. I think you two are missing my point and Ivor's to be honest, so I'll conclude by saying that it is always a good policy of any manager, to acknowledge the good work of his predecessors, that he is building on. By the way I'm extremely happy with Rodgers, and the work in progress he is achieving, but I'm not getting carried away with managerial hype, managers are like players, here today gone tomorrow, but our football will remain <cheers>

Damn beat me to it!! Nah but I pretty much agree with the majority on here. Although I did feel like a someone had just raped my family when Martinez left, he clearly is the one who should take credit for kick starting our football philosophy.. But I don't believe we would be where we are now if it wasnt for Sousa, regardless of how mind numbingly boring it was to watch! But thank you Rodgers for completing our style and taking us to the next level!

But are you both sure that he hasnt already acknowledged the work carried out by his predesesors?? i can remember him talking about roberto and the club in the press ages ago, there comes a time when we and he need to move on and asert their own stamp on things, that time is now .

I think its slightly unfair to accuse Rodgers of not acknowledging the past managers at swansea, im sure he has done this, but does he constantly have to do it ? at what point does he take ownership of the team ? does he get to blame previous managers when things go wrong?

I understand your points but i beleive its a little bit disrespectful to Rodgers to acuse him of taking credit for something he didnt create, i dont think that s the case at all and im sure he has said many nice things about the coaching that took place before he arrived, just because he doesnt metion the past in every interview doesnt mean he is trying to take the credit for what our past managers created collectively<ok>

    <cheers>

I agree with parts of all comments above. This club can be very optomistic of a bright future due to being built on solid foundations from Flyn then to Rogers now.
And from the players who have entertained us no end during our climb up the tables. From Thomas, Boyd, Forbes, Akinfenwa, Robinson, Trundle, Mcloed, Martinez, Anderson on loan, Bodde, Dourus, Prately, Scotland, Borini on loan, Williams, Rangel, Sinclair, Dobbie and the old guard Britton, Tate, Monk, Allen. And many others.
My point is we have had a fantastic journey from there to here and no one person can take all the credit its been a mixture of many things including the fans support, the board run by real jacks along with Jenkins taking some risks in manager selections which paid off big time.
The futures bright the futures black and white !!!!!!!!

Dragon sorry but as Norway has said do other managers credit their predecessors for anything at all ? If they do I have never seen it. Think you are missing the point here, yes Martinez brought total football to our club, but he was building on what jackett did before him, did he credit him for anything ?

Sousa continued the work that Martinez did, can't remember him giving credit to the previous man, the same as Rodgers now, you are saying that he should credit not the previous manager but the one before that, sorry but it doesn't happen in the football world, or in other fields either.

    Brenden rodgers talks about roberto

""He made a great contribution to the club. I would say to the supporters to give him a good reception and when the game starts to throw everything behind Swansea.

"He obviously felt as a career move it was best for him to move on, and he wasn't leaving for any club - he was leaving for a club he knew very well and who brought him to the country.

"He is a terrific part of the story here and I respect that, and I am sure the supporters will respect that.

"He did a fantastic job here as a player and a manager. You go back to when he played here, he was captain of the club and he understood the club and where it was at. He was a guy who this club meant a lot to.

"When he was here he did fantastic and I am sure he will get a good reception. He laid the foundations here and played a part in the progress of the club."

Rodgers is quoted as saying Roberto layed the foundations here , so i think the discussion should be at what point does Brenden get to take ownership of the club and team!

Does he always have to stick his head in the past everytime he talks about HIS football team ?

I don't know about the other times Norway, for me it's the first time I've seen him being on a show like this, discussing our style of play, which is revolutionary given the British game, and I thought it would have been a good opportunity for him to have educated everyone to how we got to playing the way we do, it's my view that it was a missed opportunity, but I'm sure there will be other's, by the way we've been agreeing far too much, time for a change!..............<laugh>

Oh God, who cares ? Sousa and Martinez are in the past, time to thank them, wish them well but more inportantly move on. So what if BR didn't mention them this morning why should he? He was on TV invited by Sky to talk about the Swans and himself and that's what he did and good luck to him too.

So don't be so bloody miserable and live the dream instead. 8th we are, I repeat 8th in the Premier League, every other team in Wales would love to be where we are and all but 7 English clubs too !

Apples & oranges swantastic , but fantastic apples & oranges in there own right . If push came to shove I would put Jenkins & the board as the #1 reason for where we are as a team today . They held the financial line & brought in the right people to do the rest ... including Sousa I suppose , but on a personal level , I will always hate Paulo Sousa

Don't get me started on that mad old bat Phil. If she had her way she'd have us relegated to League 2 and replace us with someone like Colchester.
