This is why we should have told Rooney to **** off 2 years ago. Some would argue that Rooney is/was indispensable to us, but Fergie was set to get rid of him before we left, and id trust his judgement more than anyone's
Brenda know he has no chance, but it will please the fans to think he can go for bigger name players. RAWK will be happy
To be fair he also signed Bebe and believed Tom Cleverley was the future. Rooney also went on to show he was one of our more important players in both seasons since Fergie left. I dont think the issue is Rooneys quality, but how much we rely on him.
We will not rely as much on him as we get the right players. We cannot blame Rooney or his agent to get the best deal possible. They saw a weakness and took their opportunity to maximise their income. The fault is not theirs but the clubs top brass for not being prepared.
Yep, when you think of the players we have lost and not missed (Eric, RvN, Cole, York, Ronny etc) we should never have been so dependant on one man.
It was always going to be about £££ if City were to compete at the top Sharing a city with one of the worlds biggest institutions meant the only way to get there was by paying way over the odds for mercenaries like adebeyor, initially and then the likes of yaya who is a big fan of his bank account It will take a generation at the top before we can actually attract players without money being high on the list of priorities to sign the contracts. Don't think we could have asked for better owners though and I can see city being a force to be reckoned with for many years,if Utd had Sheikh Mansour rather than the Glazers the gulf between us would be enormous now
To be fair, you like UTD will have to pay big ££££ for any big name player, just because both teams have money
