The board is not dying. Even the NUFC section still has some posters on it. This section would not be affected by our move anyway. I guess with better play, there is less to talk about. You can only discuss success at length for a short period of time.
Is it not in the main just caused by the fact people take this board too seriously and spend too much time on it?
Syd, please don't stop your morning threads. They are a gentle start to the day along with my breakfast cup of tea and piece of toast. I really do think you should collect them all together for a year say and publish them as a book. It would make an interesting read especially for any SAFC exiles Funnily enough I think QWOP has hit the nail on the head. We (SAFC and Mags) are all pretty happy with the way things are with our teams so haven't got much to complain about except how some posters get on our nerves! Internet forums do tend to attract trolls and wums unfortunately. I guess we all just have to learn to ignore them for the sake of the majority who contribute positively.
There are a lot of really, really good posters on here too. People like Syd, Billy, MR, Shameless, Raw, Cest etc who contribute a hell of a lot. I enjoy coming on here and discussing things with you all and deem most of you to be sound (master simpson will never like me even though we are from the same part of Scotland but I will deal with that). For that reason, this place will never die. If it did, you would all move to the same place and create a fantastic atmosphere there. Regardless, you all have nothing to worry about. If (and it is a big if) we beat you, then that will get people talking again. Off topic, I have put a bet on you getting 7th with Ladbrokes in town..... You had better get it
no, if you like something you will keep coming back, if you dont you wont. there is no such thing as spending too much time on something, if I am on the net, I have this and a few other sites open in tabs, which i refresh now and again, if something piques my interest, I will post a reply, if it doesnt, I wont.
Some good points and thanks for the kind comments about me but its not me that concerns me TBH and I wont stop posting, was just making a point about what I see as the problem, threads high-jacked rather than threads that you can opt in or out of. When it comes to Newcastle fans I like them to banter with, never have hated them and like all fans, they have good, bad and numpties. I like the diversity on here, lots of OT threads and some very good football threads. I suppose its just the somtimes abuse first comments that get to me.
Nice post Syd football is like politics we will not all agree on everything,so i say lets just get on with it and talk about SAFC,if people want to argue a point let them get on with it. Who really gives a ****e about how other teams are doing, there is only one team for us on this site and again it's SUNDERLAND. With the wums it's easy if they start a thread slagging safc off then don't reply to it and it will die away,no reply nowhere for it to go
Simple solution... Any person whom is abusive should be issued with a yellow card (1st warning) and very importantly, a few words to state the reason why the yellow card was issued (in the public domain for all to see so as to prevent a dictatorship) and then advise that if a repeat event occurs it will become a red card.
I'm more of an avid reader than avid poster on this board, the banter is class at times and I certainly don't think it is dying. Some people may take it to seriously at times but just because we don't have the same opinions doesn't mean we have to resort to name calling or ganging up on posters because imo it is immature and embarrassing.
...and if we go a certain period of time without a card, we get a single Haribo and 5 seconds of playtime.
Why not, sounds like a good idea to me!.... Ofcourse your words are purely innocent and are in no way intended to be taking a snipe! I simple smiley could have helped reveal your true and purely innocent intention! As you mention the 5 seconds thing which is obviously related to the Niall Quinn appreciation thread started by syd. If you were so innocent as you suggest then perhaps you could have typed a few more words other than "I thought he was dead for a second" just to appear remotely genuine... If you had, you wouldn't have left much room for what followed... Posting pictures of fisherman certainly didn't re-inforce the fact that your entrance onto the thread was intentional of a whole hearted and genuine contribution as you could have merely risen above, but the irony is that you chose to bite to whomever you had your exchange with by posting your picture of the fisherman. To me, this suggests that your true intention was to spoil the thread however its all in the past as they say.
It's a bit of banter, Syd. It's not as if I'm coming on here and abusing people or posting porn. The only issue I had was with Billy, who's as thick as two short planks. PS. Is it five? I thought Leicester, Newcastle, Southampton and Bristol City was it?
