I don't think it matters that Stan is a Yank. As long as he has good stewardship of Arsenal, then that's all that matters. So far he has proved to be good for the club <ok>

from the BBC article about it...
The statement to the stock exchange read: "The offer will not be funded by way of any debt finance (banks loans, payment in kind loans or other debt or quasi-debt interest bearing obligations) for which the payment of interest on, repayment of or security for any liability (contingent or otherwise) will depend on the business of Arsenal."

So it seems like he's not going to give us any extra debt.

Also, the supporters trust have rejected the sale of their shares to him.

I dunno, that statement gives him a lot of wiggle room. He could still take on debt, fund it from one of his other companies and then just draw down dividends from Arsenal equal to the interest amount each season, thus technically fulfilling his promise. The debt is paid for by another company, so it's not technically dependent on Arsenal, but the financial result is still the same.

I'm not saying that's what he plans - I have no idea what his actual financing method will be. But until he actually says "this is where the money for the purchase is coming from" you can't be certain he won't have some cunning structure to make Arsenal pay for itself. After all, that's what American owners seem to specialise in...

I think he has a genuine interest in us and has had great success with his other clubs.

Although, we are quite a few steps higher on the ladder.

It's just a general suspicion.Don't forget sport in North America is run a lot differently to over here.I honestly believe his interest in Arsenal is purely financial <ok>

<laugh> YC! Have you seen the whole of the SE region is being shut down at Scouts? I'm on a 3 month contract then it's curtains.

    Piss take...

The old guard at Arsenal (Hill-Wood, Fizman, Bracewell-Smith, Ken Friar) have had four years to get to know Kronke and in that time he has been embraced by, what was a generally conservative board room who favour traditional old values, (look at the comments Hill Wood made when Stan first appeared on the scene).

I think we can only judge Stan and Gazidis by what they've done so far and I'd have to say, so far so good. They've helped us with the move to a new stadium, rebuilding the invincible team, have a great relationship with Wenger and have set us up financially for a secure and sustainable future.

I don't think we should naturally assume that because he is American, he will behave like the Glazers or Gillet and Hicks. He would have been sniffed out a long time ago if that was the case.

It's interesting that David Dein essentially lost his place at Arsenal for advocating that Kronke was brought on board, he must be spitting feather at Hill Wood thesedays.
