It is the silly season and there is not a lot of Saints related football to discuss.

We're staying near a place called Lalande, Montsac de something. I'll find out, normally bang on my geography, especially if I'm going there!

Back to the question though -

    What are you reading?
Currently reading Philip Pullman's take on the Grimm Brothers tales - a little underwhelmed by it all to be honest, though there's some interesting literary history in there. Just finished reading Maggie & Me by Damian Barr - a genuinely fascinating memoir of a kid growing up in Thatcher's Britain.

    What are you watching?
Game of Thrones and catching up on the brilliant Dexter.

    What are you listening to?
Hmmm.....well that's my job, so a lot of things. Interesting new bands floating about - Temples are good, Deap Valley (yes, it is spelt like that) have got something going on, and The Wytches as well on the indie front. Kovak are quite an interesting pop band for those who grew up on Blondie. For pleasure, well I'm enjoying Archive's new album, With Us Until You're Dead, and as always my staple diet of Sly & The Family Stone, Pink Floyd and Orbital.

Where are you going on holiday?
Holiday. What a nice idea. More than likely will be Nice, though trying to engineer a trip down to Sicily.

How are you passing the time?
Wishing for a centre-back with pace. Hoping for a grandee signing. Gigs, reading, writing. Have just been able to take up boxing training again following a long-standing neck injury (often referred to as getting old) so hopefully that will keep me away from the pub.....

I was disappointed with the last season, its all got a bit farcical.

I need to get into some new music- what do you advised on the indie/rock front?

Out of interest which gym do you train at? I used to box but decided to give it up after getting my nose broken for a second time!

    What are you reading?
Last good book i read was I claudius, haven't read a page turner in years though

    What are you watching?
I was watching arrested development but lost interest, same with any american tv show I watch except for game of thrones. I enjoyed the first few episodes of archer, elementary and breaking bad but wasn't really hooked. I'll probably just re-watch wilfred or peep show.

    What are you listening to?
Trying out volor flex and other Burial imitations

Where are you going on holiday?
    Probably won't

How are you passing the time?
    Listening to talks off youtube

Don't you dare tell me anything that's happened!!

Indie/Rock - try The Strypes - very young guys from Ireland who have more than a hint of The Who about them. There's all the obvious stuff like Palma Violets etc but that's been covered by NME ad nauseum. I'd check The Wytches, Deap Valley and Temples as I mentioned. Chvrches are worth a look. For slightly more leftfield there's an interesting up and coming band called Kins who lean more to the Radiohead side of life.

Good point. I suspect it was supposed to have a comma after the "What".

It is just to the east of Bergerac. Has a nice flea market I've only ever driven through it on my way to Sarlat-la-Caneda which is somewhere you must go and on a Saturday for the market. Bergerac is interesting but you must visit some of the Bastide towns. Go to Monbazillac and buy some of their sweet wine to have with the local Pâté de Foie Gras. I hope you like duck because they eat a lot of it.

PS You must absolutely must go to Oradour-sur-Glane. Google it to find out why. Also visit Brantome it is a rather pretty place.

If you are hungry in the middle of the day and want a cheap but excellent meal then eat in the Carrefour supermarket on the south side of the river at Bergerac.

If you want to buy Pâté de Foie Gras then buy it in the butchers in Mussidan and finally if you have the time visit Bordeaux it is a lovely city.

I could tell you lots more but I would be writing forever.

PPS Should you need a personal tour guide and translator I am free as I would prefer your company to the respite home the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov has in mind for me. You will of course need to get accustomed to my flatulence which just lately has been a little overpowering even for me.

Thanks for that St Godders, that's really kind of you and I will take note. As luck would have it, I love duck, and rarely have it these days so I'll definitely partake in some canard!

I am just south of Bergerac again this year. First time in three years though so looking forward to it. Did monbazillac.. A lite sweet for my liking.

    Foie gras heaven!!

Sarlat is lovely, but we do a tiny, tiny local producers market on a Sunday morning, just south if Eymet. It's fabulous. People take stuff from their garden to sell (only about 10 tables worth) and then everyone sits on long tables together eating chicken or snails. I can't wait.

I'll check out some of the other places you mention too.
