As I have said all along, the campaign and meeting were necessary to appease the need to do something tangible against this man's arrogance; but I also said it would be futile and I have read nothing that contradicts that, indeed the outcome and subsequent comments by OLM simply confirm my view. It is all about AA, the stadium developments and the HCC. Any marketing company can create a name-change benefit if that is what they are paid to do. I hope the attendees at the last supper thanked him for giving them a reassurance for keeping the colours, something we already had, as it would be criminal to change the core of his future brand; I would have left at that point because you went in respect and it sounds like he took the piss out of you for hours. Can we have a poll of the representatives: 'Do you believe the name-change will go ahead?'
Glasgow would break the fa fl & pl rules. (England & wales only) They also altered the moving teams rule after mk dons bastardised Wimbledon to make it unlikely that it would reoccur in the future. So in reality it couldn't. The name of the club will not now change.
All of the above 'guestimates' mean nothing apart from what you perceive to be the 'general feeling' & this is flawed since it's an ego-centric viewpoint. The club still has to adhere to the rules. If and when a vote/referendum is given, then it will mean something.
save up some pennies, go out and buy yourself an opinion then.. or better still, drag your cardboard box down near the high water line, pop a couple of sleeping pills and we'll all be spared your irrelevance..
I don't think so. He has made two promises, one not to change the name if it brings no benefits and two, to consult widely if he's going to go ahead with it. The goal posts haven't changed he needs to do enough to persuade the FA and Premier League to agree the name change and we need to do enough to get them to refuse it. Last night both sides saw each other for the first time.
I unfortunately agree with Craig. Allam seems to have done everything on his terms. He has all the time in the world now - and can also very easily show NTHT as weak/indecisive further down the line. NTHT seem to be taking a bizarre stance that "Hull Tigers will not be profitable". My problems with that stance are 1) It probably is profitable. 2) Whether it is or not should be completely besides the point. Treating this 'investigation' as some sort of victory, or compromise, or anything remotely worthy of note - makes NTHT look interested in the profitability of the name. It should never, ever have been on the radar of NTHT. Now that it is seemingly part of their argument - all Allam needs is some 'proof' (which he can probably get legitimately, but he can definitely get it). Once that is presented to NTHT it makes them look dodgy, and it will turn even more fans against the group - so that when it comes to any sort of 'consultation', Allam could win it. It seems like Allam played it clever. He offered NTHT something, which they were surprised at and snatched his hands off - only for it to be a nail in their coffin down the line.
I don't see CTWD has accepting anything. The club is going to do some research and if they go ahead with the name change will put it out to wider consultation. Perhaps you'd like to show us the bit which says CTWD will support the club in any proposed name change? Last night our representatives sat down with Assem Allam and a number of points came out of it. One, the club will do some research and if there is no financial benefit will not change the name. If the club thinks there is a financial benefit they will be a wider consultation with fans. Finally the meeting agreed that discussion between the club and the fans representatives would continue. I would say there has been some progress in that the two sides are talking. The important issue remains can CTWD persuade Assem Allam to keep our current name and if not can we persuade the FA and the Premier League to reject the application.

The two promises he has made are open to widely differing interpretation which allows him all the room he needs to manoeuvre. Firstly the benefits the name change might bring could be measured in abstract ways, such as the increased recognition the club may receive in the Far East. This arguably could increase merchandise sales over a given period which is probably bullshit, but it can still be classed as a benefit. Next "he will consult with the fans widely before reaching a decision". This one's easy. Consultation is in no way binding and doesn't prevent him from doing anything he wishes. I'm not so sure the FA and the Premiership will be that concerned about this. There's been a few comments from individuals, but nothing official.
The other issue is, who does he consult with ? A pressure group ? All Passholders ? Anyone who has been to a game this season ? Everyone on the club database ? Everyone in Hull ? Every City fan nationwide ? A poll that can be rigged on the OWS ?
My point is that CTWD appear happy with the research, or at least think it is noteworthy (it was their big announcement on twitter). CTWD should be completely disinterested in any research about the profitability of the name change. In 6 months after a good win that keeps us in the Premier League, Allam can say - "Look, I have done this research, and Tiger Beer say they will give us £10m to sponsor our shirts if we become Hull Tigers". When CTWD say "Oh, but we still don't want the name changed", they look weak and indecisive, the rest of the fans are on a high, we have a great sponsorship deal in prospect, CTWD wanted Allam to do this research and he proved his point... let's roll with it. (Obviously a hypothetical situation, but that is the type of thing that could happen).
I'm not sure what the FA and the Premier League will accept as consultation. Assem Allam doesn't know either. Its all guesswork as is their reaction. Would the FA and Premier League approve a name change if 8,000 fans said no and 500 said yes? I don't know. I hope they would reject it. The campaign is about showing how important our name is to our community. That it is something worth keeping, it represents all the struggles we have gone through to get here, in the Premier League, with a team that can stay up and with a few more additions do so in style. To have that taken away for a few shirt sales in Asia is not a price worth paying in my view. If he does change the name how popular will the next owner be if he or she says they'll change it and gives us back our identity? Assem Allam could be remembered, not for saving our club and building a Premier League team, but for changing the name for a few short years until it was changed back again. North Ferriby Tiger, the club chooses who they consult with. The million dollar question is, is it enough to satisfy the FA and Premier League? The only people who know that will be the committees that look at the application. No me, not you, but the committees of the FA and the Premier League.
Assem Allam had a meeting with the fan groups. There was interest in the outcome. There was agreed bullet points about what had come out of the meeting, these were published on Twitter and Facebook. The club has said it will do some research and if there is no benefit to changing the name will not do so. Don't you think that is interesting and should be published? Assem Allam at any time could say that an investor would only give us money if we changed our name. What sponsor would demand we change our name. Tiger Beer supports The Tigers, (with Hull City in a lot smaller print) would be just as effective as Tiger Beer supports Hull Tigers in my view. Sponsors will give us money to get on worldwide television they are not going to insist that we change our name. A new owner wouldn't upset the fans before day one by insisting on a name change especially after the experience of Vincent Tan. It doesn't make commercial sense. Investors ands sponsors will give us money for two reasons only, we are in the Premier League and look likely to stay there.
First of all, he's already lied several times so why should we trust him now? This time next year, when the league table and official league papers say Hull City Tigers, he'll probably still be insisting it's only a 'pet name'. I simply would not trust the man as far as I could throw him. Touching the colours is criminal, but changing the name and saying he'll do what he wants because he thinks that 'he pays the bills' is fine? What ****ing planet is that man on? Oh, and he's committed to working together regularly with the fans, has he? Aww... How kind and considerate of him. It's almost as if he's realised we pay the ****ing bills, we are the true owners of Hull City AFC, and that what WE want is tantamount. It's funny how he's had this sudden change of heart, when he's stuck to his ****witted guns quite brazenly for the past four months. I found a hard copy of my season-pass confirmation e-mail yesterday, and in it we're referred to by four different names - Hull City, Hull City AFC, Hull Tigers, and Hull Tigers AFC. Today, in spite of Friday's epiphanic about-turn, several people were wished 'Happy Birthday from Hull City Tigers' at half-time. Several advertisements on the concourse TVs were accompanied by statements such as, 'proud to be associated with Hull City Tigers'. Strangely, others had slipped through Allam Marine's net that bore the name... whisper it, so he doesn't hear... Hull City AFC. Even if he did abandon his plans - something he just won't do, because it's not in the stubborn old bastard's nature - he'll never apologise for making us an international laughing stock. He'll never apologise for personally casting a huge cloud over one of our best ever seasons. I won't be happy until he leaves our club. He's foul, wretched, loathsome, contemptible and a thousand other pejoratives.
Every survey and vote on the matter so far, has seen the anti-name change vote at around 90%(though some won't support the campaign as they don't want to be seen as anti-Allam), the only vote less than this was the OSC which was about 60% against, but it was a fairly small sample. This has been reflected in what we've hear from people while handing out 20,000 leaflets and even Assem accepts that the vast majority of fans are against a name change.
None, though there was some suggestion that he wanted someone from outside football, so that might rule him out.
There a fair few on here who are currently lacking the required information to make the assertions that they are making. In the Guardian several weeks ago, Assem Allam stated that we'd be Hull Tigers next season, but we won't be. Talking to Assem is plan A, but we have a plan B and a plan C and the campaign doesn't stop just because Assem has said he'll consult before doing anything. We now have a direct dialogue with the club chairman, we've had very frank and open discussions about all manner of things, this is just the start.
