Forget about promotion now, just take each game as I comes , I don't even look at the league table till mid march

I wouldn't have a clue we was top unless I'd read it on here
You know not what you miss! **** me, I have a permanent tab open on my PC so that I can keep glancing at the league table! It's a beautiful thing that should be embraced, not ignored.

the frightening thing about this team is that they are still yet to realise their full potential, we have Snodgrass and Diamonde progressing back to full fitness, and I honestly think at some stage in the season we will click properly and bang 7 or 8 past someone, the potential is there for all to see and in Livermore and Meyler in the middle of the park we have two Ashbee`esque players who have given us the bite. As for transition to the Premier League lets not count our chickens just yet, but the signs are good. Given the mood in the camp, I can`t help feel that unless ridiculous offers come in then we aren`t going to be losing anyone.
We might have enough depth now to survive a couple of key players going in January too, Bruce needs to make sure he doesn't alienate some of the ones who could step in later in the season like Hayden though. Taylor looked a lot better v Leicester so he could be a wildcard later on

Is this squad (assuming Snod in and no outs bar the Arsenal loanees) good enough for the transition? I agree totally that it is different this time, we are a Prem club outside the Prem and not a short term visitor - can't believe I am saying that about us - but I can't predict how we would do unchanged next season....

We are a decent top-flight team that extraordinarily cruel injuries unfairly condemned to relegation, with luck we now await our rightful return to the Premier League, ---- we fervently hope.

If we go up then relegation was the best thing to happen to City. Which is quite weird to say.

We've got the team spirit back, we're winning, not conceding & performances are on the up.

We weren't good enough last year & going to matches wasn't enjoyable. I'm much happier seeing City win, even in the championship, then just turn up and get beat.

Not counting any chickens here, but we look the real deal at the moment. Some big matches coming up against the likes of Burnley, Reading & Derby, so i won't let the excitement get the better of me just yet.

Nah, let your hair down bud and enjoy the ride. If it doesn't happen, you won't feel any better just because you were cautious.

The good thing is we now have an opportunity to change the team ethos from defence to attack which will make us far more effective if we do get promoted.

I can't remember a season when I can honestly say we don't need to sign anyone in January and that's a really nice feeling.

It is a really good feeling. I don't think many people expected us to have this squad this season after the expected fire sale just didn't happen over the summer as their wasn't much interest in many of our best players it seems.

I really really really hope this continues into the January window too as this does feel a bit special.

Being greedy I still think we're lacking a natural finisher up front to keep the pressure on Hernandez and Akpom. Maybe Diomande will prove to be that player, but strikers can go 'off the boil' at any time and we need options up front like we have in midfield and defence.

We won't get much of a look at Diomade before January with the injury he has had, so I wonder if we'll just put our hopes in him. Akpom is a loanee and seems to be relatively inconsistent. Our attacking potential has increased more with the midfield pushing on, in particular Clucas and of course the return of Diame.

??? Are you responding to the wrong post?
Nope. Was putting more emphasis on Diamande than your reply intended or implied - but he could be a significant element and then I would read yours as more or less positive. That could be senility. (you see, unlike the ball in much of last season, I am well past halfway but people on here know that now)

When we were in for Gray I said him and another keeper would guarantee promotion. The need for a keeper remains, but now as reserve to McGregor rather than his replacement.
As you say the need for another striker is reduced with the midfield pushing forward, but it's a long season and injury to Hernandez would reduce our attacking options.

Ok <cheers> It was just a bit too cryptic for me.

True. The only cloud the horizon is the possibility of losing players. Though I can't imagine why they would want to leave. No point going to another club in'the Championship or playing second fiddle at another club when the could be back in the PL as a first choice player next season anyway.
On that point Chester's Mrs doesn't seem happy with how their "upgrade" has transpired:

@Rea_Simone: Love moving houses & leaving jobs for this ****

If we go up I'd love for us to get him back by the way.
