Cricket was good tonight. Durham v Yorkshire is always a cracking game and atmosphere. Root played a couple of cracking shots before we got him out. 3rd now. Top 4 from their league got to the QF and if we get through that it’ll be a finals day out at Edgbaston.
At least Asians have finally managed to break through the ethnic barriers in the game of Cricket, probably took the fact that its the national sport for in our Fathers places of birth. Just the racist barriers in football remain…something not right there when it comes to Asian representation and it’s not coz we don’t play the game or are not good at it, those amongst us that are/were indeed ballers.
Think I’ve had this with you before. I’ve played a lot of footy and some of the better players I’ve been on the pitch with were Asian. The thing that always strikes me is that a lot of regions in Yorkshire have big Asian populations. These towns and cities pretty much all have professional football clubs. Why doesn’t that reflect in their academy’s and why aren’t Asians breaking through into first team squads from that…
I don’t get it and we play Sunday league etc like the rest its nothing to do with stuff I used to hear like “Asian parents encourage their kids to be doctors’ etc etc. Not now, not parents of my generation but the kids still can’t break through
Nah that’s utter bullshit. It’s 2024. I used to be told that height was an issue for Asian lads but that’s clearly bullshit as well. The likes of Scholes and Silva. Really small players but absolute ballers. I agree with you. It’s an ingrained racial issue that needs corrected and not left unchallenged.
