All these wonderfull posts beg one VERY IMPORTASNT question, WHY DIDN'T WE HAVE THE GRANDCHILDREN FIRST???????
Good luck you and your Mrs, hope everything goes well and enjoy every minute, as time goes by so quickly.
Yeah, I am keeping OK. Was lucky in that it was just a heart attack, although ambulance men told my wife it was a serious one, so was awake all the time whilst they blue lighted me to James Cook, where they put 2 stents in. They have told me that I have a dodgy valve, which will require surgery in the future but have check ups regularly (next one tomorrow).
Even though I never got round to having kids of my own, I have 2 step children and I've known then since my step daughter was 9 and step son 11 with them in their mid 20s now and I've tried to treat then as my own unfortunately I've think they've picked up some of my peculiarities, especially my step daughter I reckon. Coming up to 6 years in October when she had my grandson who we've been lucky enough to see pretty regularly as they all live a few streets away. He can a real little sod at times and a "proper little boy" but I do miss him if I don't see him for a while and a credit to my step daughter that I think that she now thinks of me as a second dad and the little un calls me granddad and has me wrapped around his little finger at times. @Smug in Boots enjoy every minute you can spend with your granddaughter - it passes far too quickly at times and the parents take them home. But sometimes that can be a good thing
canny at james cook, where i had my thumpy thing fitted...my problem was i suffered a lot from indigestion and spent all day trying to clear my latest bout, until i realised this was not just indigestion, was just about to get my partner to call someone and i went, because i left it so long i apparently damaged one side of the heart so it no longer works 'in sync', also found out i now have COPD and borderline diabeties. feck knows what the future holds now but in october i will celebrate my 3rd birthday and hope i make the 4th
That is how I felt and when I gave out the biggest burp I had ever given/heard my wife said that's has been the problem. However, 5 mins later I was still in pain, so she put the bedroom light on and when she saw the colour of my face she called 999 immediately, which probably saved further damage. Had my 7th "birthday" in January, where it all started when Bardsley scored at Old Trafford and as I was dancing round the room my wife said "calm down you daft old sod, you will give yourself a heart attack" - 3 days later she was right!! Had to miss going to the final v City with my 3 sons which hurt even more!!!!!!
had to laugh mate, i now 'celebrate' by putting one hand in the air and applauding at the telly if it was a good move...gone are the days of running out of the patio door, leaping the wall and doing a lap of honour round the garden while neighbours looked on, shaking their heads...unfortunately, along with all else i might never get back to watching games again but trying not to write myself off just yet. one good thing, i finally chucked the smokes after promising my specialist i would pack them in (40 feckin years too late but better late than never) looking round i know a few lads also suffered various heart attacks of various levels who still carry on as if nowt has happened...all have gone on to have several attacks or had to have some serious surgery along the way...when you get your warning, heed it is my advice to people now.
Got the grandson staying at the caravan. He's 8 already FFS. Time stands still for no man. I missed the kids being young. Best time of my life. Thought I'd lost all that until he came along. Bought him a wiggle scooter today. Spoilt bugger
