I'm calm enough mate I just don't like your tone. I don't know who you think you are telling me how to act and then in the same breath telling me your my dad in front of my real dad. Its massively hypocritical.

I had loads of 606 names. "We do what we want" "H Webb Red army Soldier" were 2 I had for a while

The last bit of your post I don't understand

Revie was a footballing pioneer and made Leeds United the best team in the world for over half a decade, a claim no other English team can make. Don't believe me? Look at the European team coefficients, no other English team has ever been as consistently successful as Revie's United were. Link: http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/index.html. He might not have won masses of silverware, but he had the most professional side the world had ever seen and has every right to be named as one of the all time managerial legends.

That said, I feel this might be the wrong thread for this discussion!

TBH the leeds guy had the first jab anyway.

Doesn't he have his own board to go to? Is he lost?

"This is a collegue announcement, we have a lost leeds fan, can someone please take him home"

Well I thought my title was quite clear and asked a simple question about the greatness of our leader, but there will always be a Leeds or Liverpool fan lurking somewhere just waiting to pounce !

What happened there? Ridsdale attempted to buy success and spectacularly, crushingly failed thanks to taking a massive gamble on league position having spent far too much money on some fairly naff players. ManU have successfully bought success, just as the Blue Mancs will have done in a couple of years' time and just like Chelsea and Arsenal have done in recent years. Arsenal more with poaching young players than spending big, but it's still the same principle in my eyes. I support Leeds... that doesn't mean I support our past overspending or the idea that money should be the be all and the end all in football. Do you not agree that things have gone too far with the way finance, rather than managerial and homegrown playing talent, is now what wins clubs trophies? Is there any justice or even any excitement in the Predictableship?

As for Ferguson's "talent spotting", when it's him and not Queiroz doing it, I'd say it's not much more than the average manager is capable of; it's just that he usually has the resources to go get the top players. Even then, you've had a ridiculous number of expensive flops, which does Ferguson's so-called 'eye for talent' little justice as far as I can see it. Even Rafa Benitez's flop-o-meter pales in comparison.

Our board is a little bit threadbare at the moment. This dump of a refugee camp will have to do for me, for a while at least. It's more interesting than the Hull board.

So lets review previous buys shall we, you can make you mind up on their talent levels
    This summer:
Hernandez (great in WC but we had already bought him by then)
Smalling (wasn't getting in Fulham team)
Bebe (was sleeping on the streets this time last year)

Previous windows over last few year in no particular order

    Zoran Tosic (nuff said)
    Mame Biram Diouf (norweigan league)
Gabby Obertan (didn't make it at bordeaux)
    Michael Owen (hasbin)
Luis Antonio Valencia (wigans star man, but still.......Wigan)

In our current squad,Van Der Sar, Hargreaves, Fedinand, Berbatov and Rooney were the only players that were "united quality" the second they walked through the door and yes some players will be bought in like that, football is a business not just a sport, but most of our players have been developed within the team.

So you're denying that Ferguson has made more cockups with player signings than Benitez ever did?

What about Cruyff, Beardsley, Ricardo, Blomqvist, Taibi, Wallace, Poborsky, Saha, Veron, Forlan and numerous others?

And anyone can HAPPEN to have good scouting staff if they're given enough money to recruit them. Why do you think Hugh Heffner's still smashing women in their 20s, as Richard Keys might put it? £££.

As for WUM, call me what you want; this discussion is far better than any of the other ****e on your cringe fest of a board!

Edit to say: Good post above, ooh bebe.

Hes had flops but hes also had great players from the youth system take for instance the 1999 squad which consisted of scholes neville beckham and giggs all from the youth system and all came out to be great players...they won us the treble and you cant deny that through out the 24 yerars of fergies reign he has had remarkable players coming through the ranks...and that isnt any coincidence..24years is a long time..the players like veron forlan etc were good just didnt work out and that happens...we have produced enough great talents...in the current squad we have world class players that were spotted by fergie..when they hit the scene everyone thought they were rubbish...we have evra vidic rafael(becoming a great player) hernandez all really classy players..

So buying good established players isn't allowed, buying mediocre players and coaching them isn't allowed and buying young players and coaching them isn't allowed. Unless you train a kid up to be a world beater, your success is un-deserved?

Good job we won the treble with the class of 92 then.

As for your comment about Money equals success. Lets take your example of Benitez.

He was there 5 years and squandered over 200mil the majority of that time without winning a thing. Throughout that time Fergie won 3 league titles, 1 champions league, 2 carling cups and 1 world club cup. Whilst not even being in the top 4 spenders in the Prem.

Money does not bring success mate. Having a genius manager does.

Re: the flops, surely that proves that money doesn't provide you success?

Rooney, Ferdinand, Cole, Sheringham, VDS, Hargreaves, Silvestre, Barthez.

The only players I can think of who have been bought when they're established and have done well hence the only examples of buying success in the last 10 years. All managers do it though, with the slight exception of Arsene Wenger, and look what's happened since Henry left.

Buyin and selling players is all part of being a football manager. Look at Harry Redknapp, he's a bit of a media darling at the moment but he's probably the biggest wheeler-dealer around. If a manager's transfers lead to success, then that's further proof that he's good at his job
