Unless you actually watched Big John, and I did for fifteen years at home and away, it is almost impossible for those who started supporting City after he retired, to really appreciate what they missed. Nobody has even got near that performance level as a striker at BCFC since. He was a big lad at 6ft 1", over 13 stones, unbelievably quick over the first ten yards, two footed and could head a ball. But it was his sharp footballing brain that seemed to be ahead of everyone. And modest. If anyone comes along anywhere near him, then today's fans will understand what I mean.
