The pile on is starting because I've told a few home truths about a player that people simply like.

Of course he hasn't proven to be £60m "yet", largely because he's been injured. But your comments also relate to questioning his ability & impact, not just a lack of opportunity "so far".
If it's about "so far" then there is simply no need to comment as he's only played 8 games, 5 of those as a sub.
