How many pundits gave Greece a chance in the Euros a few years ago. They did it over an entire tournament. This is one game.
I think it all depends on how MH sets the team up and who he selects!! I agree that simply parking the bus and playing the same way as previous away games will result in defeat. We MUST play Cisse as the lone striker so that he can worry them with his pace and potential for scoring. Kompany and Lescott will murder Zamora!! We also must get numbers forward whenever possible so that we give ourselves a chance of scoring and keep them on their toes!! May as well lose by 3 or 4 whilst trying to take the game to them a little. That way we COULD pull off a result!!
Bookies have Bolton as slight favourites to go down instead of us but my view is that it is 50/50. We need somehow to get a point as I think Boltons desire to win on sunday will be greater than Stokes and that may just be key. They won at Villa and got a point at Sunderland and you just know they will be giving it 110 per cent. I have to say im not particularly looking forward to sunday. The only good thing our survival is in our own hands.
Imagine the **** we will get from Ferguson if, holding City to 0 -0 at 60 minutes, mad celebrations in the QPR section shows the team Stoke are now 3 up, and we proceed to lose.....
Those that have said this game is a Cup Final are spot on. It is a Cup Final... and then some! The pressure of both teams will be huge, particularly as news drifts in from The Stadium of Light and The Britannia. How will City react if news comes through that United have taken the lead? What if Sunderland score? How about the Rs? What if Stoke take the lead, or worse still Bolton have the advantage? What about this game itself? If City take the lead, might it be possible that they 'park the bus' as nerves set in and they just want to hold that lead? If Rangers score an early goal they could easily be on the back foot for the remainder of the game. In a match as tense as this, there could well be a red card or two. A team could implode, as Chelsea did at Loftus Road. How many times have we seen it 'all go wrong' in a contest that on paper seemed so one-sided? Giant-killing happens all the time... as do, unfortunately, events running to type. It's a Cup Final alright, but the cost of defeat to either team is quite different, as is the prize of victory. City could come strutting out of the tunnel believing the title is already theirs, given that its only 'little old QPR' that stands between them and glory. Big mistake. If the eleven men in blue and white hoops put in as dispirited and woefully inept a performance as we had to endure at Stamford Bridge the other week, then the whole bloody lot of them can leave post-season, as far as I'm concerned. If they are not 'up' for this match, then there's no flippin' hope, is there? Unfortunately, the same can be said of the eleven men in sky blue... and the eleven men in white at the Britannia. This might well be City's biggest game for 40 years... but its also the Rs biggest for 16 years. Of course its a bloody Cup Final... and the Rs are gonna win! URssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure most people on here share Norway's view - no logical chance but a glimpse of hope always starts to grow nearer to kick off. The pressure is on Man City (not necessarily from us but from Man U) and there in an unusual position for them (due to Man U's equally improbable slip ups). Anyone who can guarantee a loss can just watch the Stoke game - I know I wouldn't watch a match where it was a foregone conclusion of a loss to us. awjm is exactly right on this one - not likely but people win lotteries or get struck by lightening (either of which is less probable statistically).
What a great post. And hopefully this will happen again....bring out the Pollack !!!
Dead right. If he parks up we'll get beat. Surely hes learnt his lesson at this stage? Oi Nines, how do you post a video directly onto the forum as apposed to just the link?
Highlight and copy the link from the youtube banner, and then go this page and select the film strip icon 3rd from the right above. This brings up another window in which you paste your link into. Click Ok and hey presto your video shall appear
Just googled Jamie Pollock: Pollock scored an own goal that condemned Manchester City to relegation to the third tier for the first time, whilst keeping Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in the division. As a result, a group of QPR fans thanked him by voting him the "most influential man of the past 2,000 years" in an internet poll, where "Jesus came second, apparently."
Yeah just practicing posting a video which I did successfully, only it turned out to be an Abba clip so I deleted it straight away!
