just can't see bolton getting anything from stoke, like to see citeh win the league by drawing with us & utd bottled it at sunderland, if we had just one more point it would lower all our blood pressures for sunday, but should have got that at wba & we blew our chance didn't we bobby zamora!!
Sadly i am not going to the City game so i to will be behind my sofa. This last 2 weeks has been a nightmare and at some points has stopped me sleeping. I just hope City do a City and blow it but i really hope Stoke do the business on a poor Bolton side. To those who are going If we stay up and City win title will you stay and congratulate?
Good thread but sorry, not a chance in hell. And that is not saying on Sunday at three o'clock I believe we'll win, I always do the closer to kick off it gets. It's just that it's not going to happen, we start looking for tiny little signs like before Chelsea, now it's Chity, a much more accomplished team than Chelsea. When we had them at our place we played to our maximum and caught them on a bad day without Kompany and with Savic, still we couldn't take advantage and they looked like scoring at will. Now they play for the title, no way will they throw that away against our (possible) usual limp resistance away from home. Regarding nerves, they must have been ten times more nervous against Newcastle and didn't bottle it. But by all means keep these threads coming, I need them to get through the days leading up to the weekend when I get an excuse for drinking. I'm shattered and energy zapped, really struggling to get any sensible done atm. Just want to get to Sunday and get it all over with.
Wow. Whatever happened the glass half full people? I would like to be down-beat myself as that's my natural inclination but in the face of all this negativity I'm scared I might seem too optimistic. I wonder what the players themselves really think of our chances?
Very difficult decision facing MH and his saff this week. If we go up there and park the bus in front of our goal we will just concede possession and invite them onto us. They will pass us to death and i can't see us keeping a clean sheet. On the other hand if we try and have a go at them, we will be open to their counter attack and vunerable at the back. If you were to ask yourself, how many of our players would get in their starting 11, then the answer is simple, none. MH knows that our system has NOT worked away from home. He has admitted this and said he needs to tweak it. I'm not sure how he will do this for Citeh. Three things have to happend this weekend: MH needs to get the setup right. Easier said than done for a team with the worst away record. Our players need to be really up for it. They have been so lethargic away from home. We need lady luck on our side, and her sister, mother, cousins, friends etc etc
A few of us still around at the top of the thread mate, but this must be great for a professional player - chance to give your career and bank balance a favor by staying up in front of a full house of baying City fans who you can silence........if you've got the bottle.
That's a great question AAAGH, and one we'll probably know the answer to, but I'm pretty sure they're not too confident. Their attitude to this game is obviously shaped by both team's previous performances AND what they're hearing and reading all around them. If they're reading messageboards then the message is loud and clear; you haven't a chance, it's hilarious even to think it. I remember seeing an experiment on TV once where 13 people (12 of whom were in on the experiment) were being recorded in a room listening to a bell chiming. It rang 12 times, and each person was asked how many times it had rung. Each of them said 13 times, and when it came to the person who wasn't in on it, he too said 13! They repeated the experiment with several groups of people, always with the same result. The players, while highly paid, are human too, and if they're continually told how useless they are, it's no wonder they agree too.
But there are also the type of people who will stand up when needed and react positively to being told you can't, won't don't etc. These type of people are called leaders. This weekend we will find out how many leaders we actually have in our team. Unfortunately my gut feeling is that we don't have too many.
It's funny NUTS that last year we had Adel as captain; mercurial, temperamental, stroppy, 21, not really leadership material at all and yet the team spirit and fighting qualities were there for all to see, although many felt that Derry was the hand inside the glove providing the real leadership. This year, the appointment of Barton has been disastrous from a leadership and team spirit point of view (apparently) and perhaps Derry has been unable to exert any influence over the 'new' team. Leadership is where we're sorely lacking right enough.
I don't really agree with this. Paddy, Anton, Clint, Derry, Joey, Adel and even Mackie are alll showing leadership on the pitch. Adel is showing far more now, than he was when he was last season, when as you say he was more the glove on Derry's directing arm. I have sometimes wondered if we don't now have too many trying to organise on the pitch, but when they are basically giving the same messages it goes well.
I sort of agree with stains except to replace zero chance with little chance. Strange things do happen.
Parking the bus ain't going to work against that lot. Their movement and incisive passing will cut through eventually - even if we last more than the 40 seconds we did against Chelsea. In my view Hughes has got to play Cisse. He can score out of nowhere eg against Villa. If we wellied it up to him and he notched a blinder to put us in front there's a very small chance that City would collectively cack themselves and panic. It's our only hope. And not a particularly bright one at that.
Any football fan who thinks other than anything is possible is silly. Of course, there are many results in the World of football that were predicted. But there are games, often enough, when the result is a very unexpected one. There's a chance of all three points for QPR on Sunday. Simple as.
totaly agree , we havent got a cat in hells chance against citeh , got to pray stoke do us a favour . predicting . citeh 3 v 0 qpr , and stoke 1 v 1 bolton , hope we do get a result at citeh though .
I'm always positive about our chances and this week is no different. Sundays game is like a cup final, any result is possible. Come on U R'ssssssss
