    If Sahin has a good season for Liverpool do people really think he's going to stay? Can't see him signing on for them unless they get CL football.

    Really i can't blame Arsene from backing off a bad deal...

    He probably has alternatives lined up, he said Sahin was just one of the names he's looking into.

    There is no need to insult other members by calling them names like "******" just because you disagree with their point of view <ok>
    The WUM cabal and their supporters have chosen to leave this forum and this place is a lot friendlier for it.There is nothing wrong with a bit of fun and banter (there is no one worse than me for ****ing about) but please be civil to each other.

    Breaking it down:

    Player bought for ~8.7m last summer.

    Arsenal - 2m up front (23% of value), option to buy for 14m (making total paid 16m - an 84% profit for Real), pay "most" of his wages.
    Liverpool - 5m up front (57% of value), NO option to buy, first refusal if sold (at any price), pay all of his wages.

    It's pretty obvious which Madrid would want!!
    With Arsenal, if he plays well, Arsenal can keep him for a total of 16m. If he plays well at Liverpool, Real can set any price they want. At Arsenal, he still costs Madrid money for wages, at Liverpool, they'll cover them all.

    Even if Liverpool buy him afterwards, at the price Arsenal negotiated (14m), they'll have paid 19m for him, plus a years wages (in excess of 5m), making him 24m worth of player in total.

    Is he worth that when Arsenal need a DM, and can pick up M'Villa for 15m, on lower wages, permanently right now?!
    Arsenal pulled out, and they pulled out because the deal didn't show value for money. In my opinion, they were completely right to do so.

    Thank you for breaking it down. I was going to type something similar but you summed it up eloquently. Arsenal made the right choice pulling out all things considered (if they are accurate). <ok>

    <applause>

    It's a shame to miss out on him. But you have to draw the line when the figures mean that he would amount to a rip off

    I would have like Sahin to go to Arsenal but happy that a perminant deal is not agreed.
